| Obituary: BRYAN. -- On March 35, 1883, at her residence, in Liberty Center, O., Heretta Bryan, aged 30 years and 23 days. Mrs. Bryan was born near Cleveland, O., moved to Liberty Center with her parents at the age of thirteen years; was married to Arthur Z. Bryan in May, 1873. She leaves a husband, one son and many friends to mourn their loss. Nothing can exceed the gloom which settled like a dark pall over our community, when on last Sabbath morning the word went forth, "she is dying," and how inexpressible our grief when a few hours later came the sad intelligence, "she is dead." We felt that It could not be that one who only a few days before, had moved in our midst loved and respected by all, the picture of, health, and seemingly promising a long and useful life, should be so suddenly stricken down by the fell destroyer, and henceforth the place that knew her then, will know her no more forever. She will be missed in society where she was so bright an ornament. In the church where her place in the congregation will be vacant, in the Sabbath school where she labored so faithfully, in the choir where she lifted her voice in hymns of melody and praise, and in our sisterhood, where her voice will no longer mingle with ours in song and social intercourse. But Oh! how inexpressible more will she be missed in that sad and desolate home, where she was the idol of fond and loving hearts, hearts now broken, but which we trust ere long will welcome the bright beams of hope and look beyond to a reunion in a finer and better world than this. At a regular meeting of Rebecca Lodge which is auxiliary to Liberty Center Lodge No. 518, I. O. O. F. held March 3d. 1883, the following preambles and resolutions were unanimously adopted: Whereas, it has phased God in his Infinite wisdom to summon from her labors on earth our beloved sister Etta Bryan, calling her by his omnipotent will to that judgment which awaits all who are toiling in this earthly temple, and Whereas the sisterly ties which for so long bound in mutual friendship and enjoyment t our friend are severed, no more to be united until the day when the grave shall give up its dead. In the ripe fullness of her youthful bloom No more on earth, no more her spirit dwells, She was a priceless Jewell in thy view, Then weep no more, a few short years at moat, Resolved, That we regard with deepest respect her many amiable qualities of mind and character, and although wo sincerely mourn our loss, yet we bow submissively to the will of one who is too wise to err, and doth not willingly afflict any who put their faith in him. Resolved, That we earnestly sympathize with the relatives and friends of our deceased sister, and tender them that consolation which the world can neither give nor take away, and that we will drape her regalia and place it upon her accustomed seat in our Lodge, there to remain for sixty days. Resolved, That a copy of this preamble and resolutions be handed to the family of our deceased sister and that it be inserted in the Liberty Pressi and Napoleon papers. Mrs. .J. Y. Housell | ||
