Liberty News: Our neighborhood has again been called upon to part with another, and this time one of the early pioneers, Mr. A. B. Gunn, who has passed from earth and entered upon the realities of which no living mortal can testify, except by the ever existing, never changing and unerring laws that govern all things, or a speculative imagination existing in the minds of men of every tongue, clime and kindred upon the earth. Mr. Gunn settled upon his farm (where he died) in the year 1844, since which time he has been recognized among his acquaintances for his high order of intelligence, sterling and business qualities, having filled the responsible position of County Commissioner of Fulton county for many years; also, Justice of the Peace for a long time, besides many minor officers. He has been a working member of Fulton Lodge, F. & A. M., for a long period, severing his connection with, and becoming a charter member of Liberty Center Lodge, assisting in its organization and remaining a faithful working member. He was buried with Masonic honors, jointly, by the two Lodges of which he had been an active member. The funeral discourse was delivered at the residence of the demised, to a large audience, by Rev. Crabbs, a Universalist minister, and Bro. of the order of Morenci, Mich., (if correctly informed). Notwithstanding the cold and inclement weather and muddy roads, about seventy teams formed the procession from the house to the cemetery, nearly four miles distant, where the last solemn rites and ceremonies were pronounced, and thus ended the last tribute of respect to one of the most highly esteemed and best citizens of our community.
