| Obituary: The many friends throughout Northwestern Ohio will sympathize with Mrs. General A. V. Rice, of Ottawa, in the death of her mother, Mrs. Judge Metcalf, who passed away at the residence of her daughter, Oct. 31st, aged 60 years. The Ottawa Sentinel says: "Mrs. Metcalf was a remarkable woman of superior talents and fine accomplishments, and in former years she and her worthy and talented husband were widely and well known by a large circle of friends in all the counties in Northwestern Ohio. But her beautiful and lovely qualities shone brightest in the home circle. A loving and devoted wife, an affectionate and fond mother, she was peculiarly of a domestic nature, and her children and her children's children were dearer to her than life itself. She was also a woman of strong religious zeal, and in early life united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and ever remained steadfast to her christian faith. Through her great suffering and trials in her last illness the comforting power of the christian religion sustained her, and she died in the full hope of a blessed immorality. Her funeral took place in Lima, Ohio, Monday afternoon, Nov. 3d, from Trinity M. E. Church." | ||
