| Obituary: On Monday the sad intelligence reached the friends here of the finding of the dead body of Ida Wenner, aged 13, in a ditch on the farm of her father, Jacob Wenner, three miles west of this place. On Sunday evening she retired n apparently good spirits, and it is supposed that sometime during the night she got up in her sleep, dressed, all but stockings and shoes, and passing out of the house without awakening the family, wandered along a path leading to a pond, thence turned and followed the ditch until she came to a fence. She climbed the fence and after taking a few steps walked into the ditch which contained about 2 feet of water, where her lifeless body was found, lying face downward, by her father, at about 7 o'clock. The facts elicited at the inquest held by 'Squire Meranda, on Tuesday, go to prove that it was a case of accidental drowning, as there could be no reason assigned to convey the impression of suicide. The medical testimony also substantiates the fact that it was a case of accidental drowning. Deceased was well and favorably known throughout this section, and was the pride of her parents, in whose affliction their friends extend them heartfelt sympathy. Her remains were taken to Hancock county for burial on Wednesday morning. Deshler Flag | ||
