Mrs. Nancy Graper, widow of the many years deceased Democratic politician and county official J. D. Graper, died last Wednesday morning about 9:30 in her residence on Jackson Street from a stroke. She was born in September 1829 in Muskingum County, O., but came well over a half century ago to Defiance and has resided here since. Surviving her are two sons: Frank Graper of here and Emery Graper in Milwaukee, the two daughters, Miss Ada Graper of here and Mrs. Fannie Lowes in Antioch, Cal., as well as three sisters. The burial took place Friday afternoon from the family residence No. 745 Jackson Street under the direction of Pastor W. W. Lance to the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Esther [A.] May
Mrs. Esther [A.] May, widow of the late Pastor George S. May, at eight o’clock last Wednesday evening found relief from a year long illness through death. She had reached an age of 74 years and is survived by three daughters and one son. These are: Mrs. Lilly Tuttle in Youngstown, Ohio, court stenographer George May in Napoleon, and the Misses Ida and Clara May in Defiance. The husband of the deceased took over the duty of pastor of the Episcopal congregation here 29 years ago and oversaw it until his own passing about eight years ago. The solemn burial of the mortal remains took place Saturday afternoon from the Episcopal Church to the Riverside Cemetery, after Rector Paul Ernst had held a funeral service.

Pastor W. C. Rimer
Pastor W. C. Rimer, father-in-law of Arthur H. Latchaw residing here in Defiance, died suddenly on Friday of the previous week in his residence in Jefferson, Oklahoma. He resided earlier in Columbus Grove, in nearby Putnam Co., and as a frequent visitor to Defiance was also here not unknown, where his daughter, before her marriage with Mr. Latchaw, gave music lessons at the college. He was 60 years old and is survived by the widow and three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Dean and Miss Ethel Riemer in Jefferson, Oklahoma and Mrs. Elisabeth Latchaw of here. His remains were brought hither Sunday afternoon to the residence of his son-in-law and on the afternoon after buried in the Riverside Cemetery. At the burial, Pastor Edwin Morrell officiated.
Henry A. Brechbill
Henry A. Brechbill, a long-time and esteemed citizen of the City of Defiance, died unexpectedly rapidly from a brain hemorrhage on Saturday afternoon about 1:30 in his residence No. 844 Cllnton Street. After a lengthy illness, he had recovered so much in the last few months, that he was able to again pursue his occupation. Saturday he complained of severe headaches, but still went to work; just after noon he had to be taken home, where just a few minutes later he breathed his last.
Henry A. Brechbill was born 57 years ago in Highland Township and came as a young man to Defiance, where he worked almost continuously in the machine factory. Surviving him are the daughter Miss Eva M. Brechbill of here, the son Bernhard in Cleveland, O:, and the Sister Mrs. Dr. N. S. Blue in Ayersville. His wife, one son and six siblings died before him -- the latter almost all a sudden death.
The burial took place Tuesday afternoon from the former residence under the direction of Pastors Curtis E. Shields and B. W. Slagle to the Riverside Cemetery. In the Defiance machine factory works was suspended, so that the representatives of his fellow workers could give a funeral cortege.

Mrs. Anna Steinbach
Mrs. Anna Steinbach, a born Rantz and also well known in Defiance, where she had resided in previous years, on Thursday last in Chicago retired from this life. She was born on the 7th of June 1860 in Paulding County, Ohio, and thus had brought her lifetime to 50 years, 8 months and 25 days. On the 27th of January 1880 she married in Defiance Nikolaus Steinbach, to whom she gave three sons and two daughters, who are all still alive. They are: Nikolaus, Jr., Emma, William, Edith and Carl. The past eighteen years of her life the deceased had spent in Chicago and until a year ago had resided there with her eldest daughter Mrs. Charles Zurn [at] No. 520 North Troy Street. From the last residence the mortal remains will be brought on Sunday to the grave in Forest Home Cemetery.
Besides the children the deceased leaves behind the sister Mrs. Margarethe Danz in Holgate and the brother John C. Rantz there also. Another sister, Mrs. Christ. Diehl, Sr., preceded her in death on the 2nd of April of the preceding year. The burial of Mrs. Steinbach was attended by her nephew Albert F. Diehl from Defiance and her sister Mrs. Margarethe Danz from Holgate. The old friends in Ohio wish for and will not begrudge the departed her eternal Rest.
