On Saturday morning, Pastor Daniel Lochner of Mark Township in this county, died in a hospital in Cleveland O., where he had only recently answered a call (found a position). His remains were brought on Sunday morning to the parsonage of the St. John's Lutheran congregation in Mark Township, which the deceased had served until a few months [ago] as minister. The funeral service began there Monday afternoon, led by Pastor W. Moll of Ft. Wayne. At the funeral in the Church Pastor C. Herzberg of Milford Township was the acting clergyman. Pallbearers were the Pastors Rottmann, Reinking and Schulze and the Churchwardens Mueller (Müller), Meyer and Behnfeldt. After this funeral service the remains were taken to Ft. Wayne and taken from the Concordia Church to the Concordia cemetery for burial. The Funeral oration in the Church was given by Pastor Christian Luehr (Lühr) and at the graveside by Pastor August Lange.
The servant of Christ, after long sufferings, entered into rest at only 43 years old, and left behind a widow with 9 children.

Grandmother Maria Brandt
At about one o'clock in the afternoon, in her home in Adams Township, Grandmother Mary Brandt, a born Tiede and widow for a year and a half past of Christoph Brandt, entered into the Peace of the Lord. She was born on 30 September 1823 in Matrig, Brandenburg Region, Germany, and after pervious instruction confirmed at Bentwisch.
In the year 1847 she married Christoph Brandt, with whom six years later she emigrated to America. After they had lived for nine months in Henry county, the couple [Brandt] moved to the farm in Adams Township which remained their home until the end of their lives. Of the eight children, with which the marriage was blessed, four sons Wilhelm, Heinrich, Fritz and August remain [alive]; one son and three daughters are already dead. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, three foster grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
The deceased was a consistent member of the St. John's Lutheran congregation in Ridgeville Township and was diligent in word and sacrament. she had brought her age to 82 years, 10 months and 29 days. Her remains were conducted to the grave on Saturday morning under the direction of Pastor Fr. Reinking of St. John's Lutheran Church with a large attendance. May she rest in Peace!
Michael Schaefer (Schäfer)
Found dead in bed
Michael Schaefer, residing on a farm 5 miles southwest of Defiance, was found by his family yesterday morning, dead in his bed. on the previous evening Mr. Schaefer had gone to bed in apparently his usual good health. when he failed to get up yesterday morning, his wife was uneasy and went to determine why he remained in bed and found to her shock her husband a corpse. Dr. T. W. Zeller was called immediately and determined that the death was caused by a stroke. The deceased was about 57 years old and leaves behind the widow, four sons and three daughters. The late Peter Schlosser's second wife was [Michael Schaeffer's] sister.
The burial will take place Friday afternoon at the Riverside cemetery under the direction of Pastor Engers. The funeral service will take place in the home atabout one o'clock sun time, and in the English Lutheran Church here at about 2 o'clock standard time.
