She was born on the 12th of October 1848 in Landshausen, Eppingen District, Grand Duchy of Baden, and married there in the year 1867 her now deeply mourning widower. In the year 1883 the father, mother and four sons of the family immigrated to this country and settled at once in Defiance. Eleven years later, they followed the urge to see the old Fatherland once more, but in 1895 had already returned to Defiance, and the deceased had spent the remainder of her days here. Surviving are the widower and three grown sons Joseph, Adolph and Hermann; two daughters and a son died in Germany and one son in this country. There also survive three grandchildren, additionally the brother Daniel Kopp in Highland Township and one sister in Germany.
The deceased belonged to the Christian Mothers' Society of the St. John's Catholic congregation, the local German Womens' Health Support Society and the Society of Catholic Women of Ohio. All of these societies accompanied her Friday morning to the gravesite, after the funeral service was held at St. John's Catholic Church under the direction of Father Gloden. Pallbearers were Michael Weber, Adam Daub, Angus Grant, H. Hendricks, Christ. Bruchhauser and M. Ziegler.
In Mrs. Veith has a faithful spouse, caring mother and good citizen left us. May she rest in peace!
