In the home of her daughter Mrs. Karoline Groll in Standley on Monday morning of this week at about 7:30, Karoline Bögert, born Pfahlert and wife of Heinrich Bögert, died at the age of 73 years and 15 days. She was born in Lenglern, Gottingen district, Prussia, on 24 March 1834. In the year 1856 she married Heinrich Bögert, came with him to this country in 1884 and settled in Defiance, where she spent the rest of her life. Of their nine children, the only ones still living are Mrs. Karoline Groll of Standley, Mrs. August Frank and August Bögert here. Additionally there are 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild surviving.
On Wednesday afternoon the remains were taken from the former home and St John's Lutheran Church to Riverside cemetery under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess.

Widow Katherine Prigge
From the infirmities of age on Monday afternoon about 2:30 in Adams Township in the residence of her son Friedrich Prigge with whom she made her home, Katharine Prigge, born Stilker and widow of the late Heinrich Prigge, at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 17 days. She was born on 22 February 1828 in Büren, in Westphalia. About the year 1850 she married Heinrich Prigge, who she presented with 7 children, of whom Friedrich and Heinrich, Mrs. Katherine Drewes and Mrs. Minna Leist are still alive. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The deceased had resided in this area for almost half a century, the last 27 years as a widow.
The funeral will take place Thursday morning under the direction of Pastor K. Strauss. The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock in the former home and at 11 o'clock in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Okolona.

Heinrich Ortstadt
By his son Ludwig in St. Joe Township in neighboring Williams county, on Tuesday morning of this week Heinrich Ortstadt died at the age of 82 years less one day. He had lived in that area going on 35 years and since the death of his wife about five years ago had made his home with his only child. He was born in Hesse-Darmstadt and had served both the former Fatherland and the new adopted Fatherland in war. As far as our informant knows, the burial will take place on Thursday from the Lutheran Church in Milford Township under the direction of Pastor E. Herzberg.
Eva Maria May
After a lengthy illness on Monday evening about a quarter past nine in the family residence on Tacoma Avenue, died Mrs. Eva Maria May, born Hartner. While visiting relatives in Hammond, Ind. a few months ago, Mrs. May fell ill with the complaint, that eventually led to her death. Four weeks ago she was brought hither to the family home that she might finish her days near to her aged husband and her other loves.
She was born on 18 March 1836 in wildbad by Markt Burgbernheim, Bavaria, and there also baptized into the Lutheran Church, confirmed and reared. To America, and actually to the city of Cincinnati, she came in 1852 and there married three years later her mourning widower Georg May. The couple May came to Defiance in the year 1873. Of the eleven children which were given them, surviving are Miss F. Babetta May, M. Goerg May and Karl Ernst May here, Mrs. P. Louise Biede in Hammond, Ind., and Mrs. E. Nathalie Satz in Chicago, Ill. Additionally there are 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the former home under the direction of Pastor W. H. Bunge, and thereafter follows the burial in Riverside cemetery.
Mrs. James U. Blue
In the family residence on East Second Street on Friday morning, the wife of Mr. James U. Blue died after a lengthy illness from a disease of the trachea. She had brought her life to 72 years and left her widower with many grown children. The burial of the remains took place Sunday afternoon in the cemetery in Ayersville, after a funeral service was held here in the Baptist Church.
