Friedrich Storck
For the elderly Freidrich Storck, who in the last few months had to suffer so much, on Tuesday morning about eight o'clock struck the hour of his release; an easy death carried him away from this time and all its ills.
Friedrich Storck was born on 17 July 1827 in Arheilgen in Hesse-Darmstadt, where he resided until he achieved his majority. In the beginning of the fifties he came to America, and after a short stay in Defiance, settled on a farm in Defiance township. On 28 November 1853, he married here in Defiance, Susanna Hagen, who preceded him in death on 20 October 1893. In the year 1891 the couple Storck retired, as the farm labor had gotten to be so difficult, to an apartment house on east Hopkihs street, and there the husband remained living with his daughter Mrs. Susanna Brown and her children, after his life's companion had died. Of his nine children, surviving are: Mrs. Susanna Brown, Mrs. Katharine Mentley, Mrs. Sarah Fessel, John M. Storck in Toledo, Mrs. Elisabeth Rahmel, Mrs. Sophia Langschmidt, and Mrs. Maria Hagen in St. Louis, Mich. Burial will take place Friday afternoon; the service will begin in the home at 1:30 o'clock, in St. John's Lutheran Church a half hour later.
Friedrich Storck, who belonged to our worthy German pioneers and honored citizens, was 76 years, 6 months and 27 days of age. May he have found the rest, which he so earnestly desired!
