Edwin A. Craig did not for long survive the operation, which was undertaken on Wednesday morning of the previous week in Behringer's Camp for appendicitis. Craig was born on the 6th of July 1886 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and came in 1903 to Defiance where he has lived ever since and where his people-friendly and exemplary respectable behavior have made him many friends. Since the 10th of April 1905 he has worked in the Post Office here under his uncle, the Postmaster C. J. Thompson, in the service of the federal government, lastly as assistant postmaster. Whoever has come in contact with him would have to say with us that he was an honest, ever obliging official. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias and the Ben Hur Lodge, was a member of the Knights of Pythias Band and the business manager of Thompson's orchestra. On the 30. of June 1909 her married Miss Mable Behringer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Behringer, who survives him. Besides he leaves his widowed mother in Lima, to whom he was very devoted.
His remains were buried Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias from the residence of his parents-in-law on East High Street. Pastor C. M. Shields from the Presbyterian congregation here presided, and the regimental and Knights of Pythias bands gave their departed friend accompaniment to the last resting place in Riverside Cemetery.
