Tuesday morning of this week, about 4 o'clock the widow of the late George Conrad Wolfert, a born Wassermann, died at the age of almost 80 years. She was born on the 30th of October 1829 in Welzheim district, Kingdom of Württemberg, and left her home on the 18th of May 1876. Arriving in America, she lived first with her sister in Putnam County and after her marriage at the end of September of the same year settled in Holgate. The marriage was childless, but the Wolfert couple raised many children, of whom three have gone on to Eternity.
In 1885 her husband went blind and four years later went insane, but she cared for him faithfully until his death on the 2nd of September 1892. The burial of her remains will take place Thursday morning under the direction of Pastor Lussky. The funeral service will be in the home at 9 and in the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church at 10:30.

Mrs. Charlotte Hall
Mrs. Charlotte Hall, a born Viebach, died on the last day of the year in her home in Milwaukee, in the state of Wisconsin. She was born on the 9th of April 1868 here in Defiance, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Viebach and grew up here to her maidenhood. For the last few years, as far as we know, she has lived in Milwaukee. She had brought her life to 42 years, 8 months and 21 days. She leaves behind her widower with two daughters, as well as the following siblings: Mrs. Al Hiester, Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Mrs. Ida Gaul, Mrs. M. Kirchner, August and Karl Viebach.
Her remains were brought Sunday to Defiance to the residence of her brother Karl and Monday afternoon from there under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess to burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Louise Miller
Mrs. Louise Miller, wife of Mr. Rudolph Miller and a born Long, died on Saturday morning in the family home on upper Clinton Street from a complicated illness. In vain she had sought a cure for it in Florida, and only a few weeks ago had returned from there, sick to death. She had reached the age of 60 years and leaves behind a widower, four stepchildren and the following siblings: John W. Long, Frank P. Long, widow Elisabeth Tuttle, Mrs. Logan Barr, Mrs. George P. Wohn and Will. Long. Her father had died already in March 1877 and her mother in November 1907. Her remains were buried Tuesday afternoon from the Zion English Lutheran Church in Riverside Cemetery.

Wilhelm Spieth
Too late for inclusion in the previous edition we learned that on the 8th of April WIlhelm Spieth died in his residence in Pleasant Township. He was born on the 28th of August in Esslingen, Württemberg, and came as a 3 year old little boy to America, where he had his home until the year 1859 in Medina County, Ohio. From then on he has lived in Pleasant Township. On the 23rd of August 1908 his wife preceded him in death, and since then the fragile old man has also craved release, which came for him on the evening of the 8th of April. He had brought his age to 81 years, 7 months and 10 days. Surviving him are 3 sons and 4 daughters, among them Mrs. Katharine Smith from here, 48 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 son and 2 daughters died before him. His mortal remains were taken to the grave on the 10th of April under the direction of Pastor Albin Beer from the Reformed Church in Pleasant Township.

Wilhelm Killian Hohenberger
Wilhelm Killian Hohenberger, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Maria Hohenberger residing in South Richland, died on Monday morning almost nine o'clock in his residence in Highland Township from pneumonia, after he had been ill for only four days. He was born on the 17th of May 1876 and grew to manhood in the parental home. On the 26th of April 1900 he was married by Pastor F. E. Lahr to Miss Sophia Memmer, who survives him with two small children. Besides the widow and the two children, many friends, the parents and three brothers mourn his early death. The burial took place Wednesday afternoon from the former residence and the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church on the South Ridge under the direction of Pastor W. Lussky.

Magdalena Beiker
Magdalena Beiker died on last Friday about noon in her residence on the corner of Clinton and Thurston Streets from the infirmities of age. She was born on the 12th of August 1824 in the village of Windisch in Switzerland, and had brought her life to 85 years, 1 month and 19 days. She was twice married, both husbands preceding her in death. Her first husband was named Hans Ulrich Müller; she married him in 1846 and after only five years his death broke the marriage. From that [marriage] comes the son Rudolph Müller, who lives here. Her second husband John Beiker she married in 1856 here in Defiance; from this marriage the son John Beiker remains behind.
Further she leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and the brother Friedrich Schatzmann in Switzerland. The burial took place on Sunday afternoon under the direction of Pastor N. E. Bitz from the St. John's Reformed Church to the Riverside Cemetery.
