After a protracted and extremely painful sickbed, on Tuesday evening at 20 minutes past ten o'clock, Doctor Perrin H. Aldrich died in his home on upper Clinton Street from enlargement of the liver. He was born in the year 1844 in Fairport, New York, and settled in Defiance as a doctor almost 20 years ago. since then he has lived here, and up until his severe illness, has practiced his profession successfully. Surviving his is a widow without children.
There will be a funeral service in the former home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of Pastor Bigler, and on the morrow the remains will be taken to Adrian Michigan for burial.

Heinrich Arps
With large attendance and whole-hearted participation of friends and relatives from near and far last Monday morning, the earthly remains of Heinrich Arps were taken from the former home and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Adams Township to the grave.
He was born on 11 August 1846 in Stellichte in the province of Hannover, where he lived until the year 1865. Then he immigrated to this country, and after living in Toledo for eight years, settled in Adams Township, and resided there until the end of his life. In the year 1872 he entered into the state of holy Matrimony with Miss Maria Grünhagen. This marriage was blessed with eight children, of whom two sons have preceded their father into Eternity. Six children, three sons and three daughters, mourn with the widow the death of husband and father. Besides these the deceased leaves behind tow brothers Friedrich and Wilhelm, the sister Mrs. Minna Mitchel and five grandchildren.
For a long time, Mr. Arps state of health was not especially good and his strength slowly ebbed. But just a few days before his death, his suffering reached a critical state. On Friday evening at 7 o'clock, the hour of his release struck, when he, as the shepherd of souls Pastor H. Schult said in his eulogy, ?accepted his end. The length of his earthly pilgrimage was 58 years, 6 months and 20 days. May he rest in peace!
In the home of her son B. F. Enos in Detroit Mich., last Thursday, the widow Esther M. Enos died at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 5 days. She was born in Addison county, Vermont and came with her parents to Defiance in 1837, where they have lived for most of the time. she was married twice; the first marriage was childless, and from the second the well known lawyer B. F. Enos is the only child. The remains were brought hither Friday evening and taken to the cemetery chapel, where funeral took place Saturday morning. we wish the departed pioneer Eternal Rest!

Heinrich Schmick
Sunday morning, after a lengthy siege of cancer of the larynx, Heinrich Schmick died. He was born on 13 April 1844 in the kingdom of Bavaria and came with his parents as a boy to this country, where Defiance became their home and remained so. After he took part in the Civil War, on 3 May 1866 he wed Elisabeth Zugschwert, who presented him with 4 daughters and 1 son. A daughter died in the year 1895, and Mrs. Schmick five years later. The surviving children are Karl Schmick and Misses Allie, Edith and Cora Schmick. Other survivors include two sisters, namely Mrs. C. Schneider and Mrs. C. Hallock in Antwerp.
From 1876 to 1880, Henry Schmick was sheriff of Defiance county, and later was Trustee of Defiance county for 14 years. At the time of his passing, he belonged to the Bishop Post of the Grand Army and the A.G.D. Sickness Assistance society, and both groups accompanied him Tuesday afternoon from the former home to the gravesite.
The burial was led by Pastor G.D. Whitlock of the English Methodist congregation. [d. 26 Apr 1903]
