Adolph Foss, an inhabitant of the beautiful South Ridge for over half a centery, died on Thursday evening about a quarter till eight in his residence in Highland Township as the result of many strokes. These attacks stretch back over a number of years; the latest attack the now-deceased received at the beginning of summer and he had been bedridden ever since.
He was born on the 1st of January 1848 in Muhlau in Saxony-Weimar and is therefore 63 years, 10 months and 25 days old. In the year 1852 he came with his parents and siblings to this country. The family settled at once on the South Ridge and Adolph Foss has spent his entire lifetime there. On the 13th of July 1869 he married Miss Maria Miller, who on the 2nd of August of this year, while he was helpless on his sickbed from a stroke attack, was torn from him by death. Mourning his death are the following children: Earl Foss in Holgate, J. H. Foss in Defiance, Mrs. Kathe Goller in Highland, Wilhelm Foss on the old home place, Mrs. Anna Pfau and Mrs. Ella Pfau in Pleasant Township, George Foss in Highland, Mrs. Emma Diemer in Highland, Adolph Foss in Defiance, Ernst Foss in Holgate, Lydia, Minnie and Alma Foss in the parental home. Additionally left behind are 25 grandchildren. His only brother Heinrich Foss preceded him in death on the 5th of February of this year.
The deceased was a good citizen and was known and liked in wide circles. The mortal remains were brought Sunday morning to the congregation's Cemetery with large attendance., after Pastor W. Lussky had held the funeral service at 9 o'clock in the family home and 10 o'clock in the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Freddie Hahn
Freddie Hahn, son of Philipp Hahn and his wife Anna Hahn, born Müller, died on Sunday morning in the residence of his stepfather Charles Torrence on Kintner Street. He was born on the 28th of November 1898 in Defiance. In earliest childhood -- he was only 13 months old -- the boy lost his father. Two weeks ago he was stricken with the treacherous illness of nervous fever which bore him away on Sunday morning at the age of 12 years, 10 months and 17 days. He leaves behind the mother, the stepfather, two sisters and the maternal grandparents, namely Mr. and Mrs. Louis Müller. The burial took place Tuesday afternoon from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor F. A. Kiess, who had baptized the boy on his deathbed, officiated at the burial.

Mrs. Maria Foss
Mrs. Maria Foss, eldest daughter of the late Joachim Miller and his wife Wilhelmine and wife of Mr. Adam Foss, died last Wednesday about 30 minutes before 3 in the family residence in Highland Township after a short illness from gallstones. She was born on the 3rd of December in Mecklenburg, came with her parents as a 3 year old girl to this country and lived in Defiance until her marriage to Mr. Adam Foss on the 13th of July 1869. Pastor Adam Detzer blessed the marriage bond, and from then on the deceased lived on a farm in Highland Township. Of 14 children, whom she gave life, one died in earliest childhood.
With the widower, who on account of a stroke two months ago was laid low, helpless, mourning her death are the following children: Earl Foss in Holgate, J. H. Foss in Defiance, Mrs. Kathe Goller in Highland, Wilhelm Foss on the old home place, Mrs. Anna Pfau and Mrs. Ella Pfau in Pleasant Township, George Foss in Highland, Mrs. Emma Diemer in Highland, Adolph Foss in Defiance, Ernst Foss in Holgate, Lydia, Minnie and Alma Foss in the parental home. Additionally remaining behind are 25 grandchildren and the siblings Wilhelm, Charles F. and Martin Miller and Mrs. Christoph Durk in Defiance and Mrs. Karl Remer in Sherwood. The Christian burial of the mortal remains took place Friday afternoon from the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church on the south Ridge under the direction of Pastor W. Lussky to the congregation's cemetery.

Anna Maria Dusaberg
Anna Maria Dusaberg, a born Siehler and wife of Johann Dusaberg, died early Monday about 12:30 in the family residence in East Defiance after about a five week illness, from peritonitis.
She was born on the 22nd of October 1873 in Toledo and as a 4 year old girl was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Gottlob Seyfang, who brought her up in Christian and loving [manner] like their own child. On the 4th of April 1893 she married Johann Dusaberg, who with their three children Clarence, Freddie and Catherine survive.
Additionally remaining behind are the adoptive parents Gottlob Seyfang and wife, sister Lizzie Siehler and brother Leonhard Siehler, both residing in Toledo. And with them, many friends mourn the death of the sweet lady. The burial took place Wednesday afternoon in the Riverside Cemetery, after Pastor F. A. Kiess had held the funeral service at 1:30 in the residence of the adoptive parents, No. 630 Kahlo Street and at 2 o'clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The deceased was from childhood on a member of the St. John's Evanielical Lutheran congregation and also a member of the Lady's society "Harmonia." We herewith offer the family our sympathy.
