In the residence of her father A. L. Reid, two miles east of Florida, Ohio, on Sunday morning, Viola Kleinhenn, wife of D. F. Kleinhenn, died of consumption at the age of 30 years. she was married two years ago and moved then with her husband to Adrian, Mich. A few weeks ago, in answer to her ardent desire, she was brought back to her parents' house, in order to spend her few remaining days within the dear circle of her family. She leaves behind her widower, one child, her parents and seven siblings. The remains were buried Tuesday morning in the Brinkman cemetery.
Friedrich Dirr
Friedrich Dirr, a long-time resident of Henry county, died in Toledo Wednesday afternoon at the age of 56 years. He leaves behind four children, among them Mrs. Georg May Jr. and Wm. Dirr in Defiance; an aged mother; seven brothers and three sisters, who live in Pleasant Township, Henry county. Additionally there are nine grandchildren named as direct descendants.
His remains were brought hither Wednesday morning to the residence of his son-in-law Georg May Jr. There on Saturday morning a short funeral service was held, and then the mortal remains were brought to the German Methodist Church on the south Ridge, from whence they were committed to the earth. The funeral service was directed by Pastor Jauch from Defiance.
Wilhelm Zeller
After an illness of many months, on Wednesday afternoon about 3 o'clock, the almost 82 year old Wilhelm Zeller died in the residence of his daughter Mrs. F. J. Wagner, 1102 Perry Street, from the infirmities of age. He was born 9 June 1825 in the grand-duchy of Baden. He immigrated to this country in 1849 and settled first in Crawford county, Ohio and later in neighboring Williams county. He wed Miss Katharine Winterhalter in the year 1850, begot two children, Mrs. Martin Keller and Mrs. Louise Keller, who now live in Monterey, Ind. The first wife died in 1862 and two years later he married Theresia Meyer. From this marriage the following children survive: Mrs. Edmund Archambault, Mrs. F. J. Wagner, Mrs. Wilhelm Reuss and Dr. T. W. Zell of here, and Mrs. B. F. Vollmer in Monterey, Ind. Additionally there remain 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. William Zeller spent the last seven years of his life in Defiance.
The mortal remains were brought Friday morning from St. John's Catholic Church, under the direction of Father Joseph P. Gloden, to the grave in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Beith, Christ. Diehl, Adam Daub, Caspar Kahl, Angus Grant and John Schneider.
Mrs. Wilhelm Franzdorf
In the family residence at 902 Francis Street yesterday morning shortly after 7 o'clock, Anna Franzdorf, a born Rosenau and wife of Mr. Wilhelm Franzdorf, died after a lengthy illness. she was born on 6 September 1848 in Monkowarst, Posen province. She was married on 9 December 1869 in Comnitz, West Prussia to Wilhelm Franzdorf, with whom she immigrated to America in January 1871. The couple Franzdorf remained in New York for three months; then they moved to Ft. Wayne, where they remained until the year 1880, and since then they have lived in Defiance. The death of the faithful wife and mother is mourned by the widower and seven children, Wm. F., Heinrich, Reinhold, Bertha, Eduard, Anna and Arthur Franzdorf. Four children preceded the mother in Death.
The burial will take place Friday afternoon under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess. The funeral service will be held in the former home at 1:30 (?)solar time, and 2 o'clock in St. John's Lutheran Church.
Richard Johann Franzdorf
Yesterday morning Richard Johann, the infant son of Mr. & Mrs. William F. and Anna Franzdorf of Arthur in Paulding county, born on 7 September of the previous year, died. There had not been decision made concerning the burial, as this edition went to press. The child was a grandson of Mrs. Anna Franzdorf, who just died yesterday morning.
Elisabeth Schliesser
From Pastor K. Strauss, we received the following notice of the passing of Elisabeth Schliesser:
Elisabeth Schliesser, daughter of Jakob and Margaretha Schliesser, was born on 20 May 1861. She received holy Baptism at her birth and after receiving instructions was confirmed by me in 1874. She always remained in her parental home, since early on she began to sicken. She also had periods in between, when she was reasonably well. After the death of her mother, she spent some time with her half-sister Mrs. Fr. Marz in Defiance, and most of the time with her birth sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Ernst Kruger. About six weeks ago, she was operated upon in a hospital in Toledo. Her internal organs were eaten up with cancers and she had only lived this long because her stomach had remained clear of the cancer. she died in the home of her sister and brother-in-law on Saturday evening, 24 November, about 9 o'clock. she had been brought there from the hospital on the same day, about noontime. Her age was 45 years, 6 months and 4 days. surviving are 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Her remains will be buried on 27 November from the Bethlehem Church in Okolona.
