on Friday evening about 7 o'clock, at.the age of 51 years, 9 months and 16 days, Wilhelm Johann Rahmel, died of complicat1ons of an almost four month long illness. He was born on 18 December 1855 in Neuhof, west Prussia. In 1880 he married Mrs. Anna Maag and two years later the family immigrated to this country and settled immediately in Defiance. Mr. Rahmel worked for many years in the machine factory, later as foreman in the flour mill and lastly in the Clipper plow factory. He belonged to the [?mutual] aid society of St. John's Lutheran Church, the A.G.D. Sickness Support Association and the National Union. Surviving him are his widow, daughters Emelie and Ada, son Karl, stepsons Albert J. and Wilhelm Maag, and brothers Albert and Karl Rahmel. Daughter Bertha died in childhood.
The burial took place Monday afternoon under the direction of Pastor F.A. Kiess at Riverside cemetery. Funeral services were at 1:30 in the former home on Washington street and at two in st John's Lutheran Church. The pallbearers were Fr. Heidepriem, Rudolph Kenning, Johann Schudel, Heinrich Engelhardt, Jakob Müller and George W. Fuller.
Joseph R. Klein
Joseph R., the little son of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Klein of Auglaize Township, Paulding county, died last Saturday morning after a week-long illness, at the age of 1 year, 10 months and 22 days. The little remains were taken Monday morning from the Catholic Church in Junction to the grave-site.
Elisabeth Wolf
From the infirmities of age, on Sunday evening, Elisabeth Wolf, widow of the seven years earlier deceased Joseph Wolf, and a born Sandhammer, died in her home on Harrison Street. She was born on 8 August 1819 in the old Fatherland and had brought her age to 87 years less 2 days. For the last 43 years, Defiance has been her home. The deceased leaves behind two sons, Joseph and William, and daughter Mrs. William McFarland. Her remains were taken Wednesday morning under the direction of Father Globen from St. John's Catholic Church to Riverside cemetery.
Anna Dorothea Goller
After an illness of only three days, at about 6 o'clock Tuesday morning of this week, Anna Dorothea Goller, born Stierle and widow of the late Nikolaus Georg Goller [who] died in April 1889, died in her sleep in the home of her son Georg in Highland Township.
She was born on 15 August 1829 in Ebingen, Salinger district, Wuerttemberg, and immigrated in the year 1852. After she had lived a few years in Lancaster, Pa., she came in 1854 to Highland Township, where on 19 July 1855 she was wed to Nikolaus Georg Goller by Pastor Adam Detzer. From this marriage sprouted eight children, of whom three boys and three girls preceded their mother in Death. Her husband, as mentioned earlier, died in April 1889. surviving are the son Georg Goller in Highland Township, the daughter Mrs. Anna Miller, residing here at 810 Francis Street, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. The deceased was a faithful and caring mother and was held in high regard by all who knew her.
The burial will take place Thursday morning. The funeral service will be 9:30 at the home and 10 o'clock at St. Stephan's Lutheran Church under the direction of Pastor H. Diemer.
Johann Michael Aschbacher
In the Lutheran Old Folks Home in East Toledo, where he and his wife were admitted several months ago, this past Sunday Johann Michael Aschbacher died of the infirmities of age, as well as a long time chest illness. He was born on 23 January 1824 in Thomashardt, Schorndorf District, Wuerttemberg, and remained there until his entry to manhood. on 9 April 1854, he met Miss Anna Roos, now his widow, on the journey to the United States, where after a difficult 30-day voyage the travelers first landed in Philadelphia. There they took a temporary stopover and were married on 17 August 1854. Mr. & Mrs. Aschbacher settled in Defiance county in the fall of the year 1857. After they had labored for many years on the farm they had acquired in Noble Township, they retired to the city of Defiance and remained resident there, until due to the ?helplessness caused by illness [they were] required to seek assistance in the old Folks Home, which they had the means to pay for. The deceased leaves behind the childless widow, a brother Friedrich residing here and many more distant relatives.
The remains were brought Wednesday morning to Defiance, to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where the deceased's shepherd of soul, Pastor W. H. Bunge, held the funeral service. Thereafter followed the burial in Riverside cemetery.
