The closing ceremonies for the Defiance High School began on Sunday evening in the English Methodist church, where Pastor E. O. Crist gave to the members of the graduating class the baccalaureate address and showed them the ways that they can apply and make use of their knowledge to their benefit and that of their fellow men.
On Wednesday evening of this week the class play will take place in the opera house. The presentation will be the comedy "Christopher Junior" with the following cast of characters:
Christopher Jedbury, Sr., an East-Indian merchant -- Theodor Kiess; Mrs. Jedbury, his wife -- Lucile Baker; Christopher Junior -- Paul Squire; Nellie, their daughter -- Evalyn Weisenburger; Whimper, their commissionaire -- Victor Steffel; Job, Jedbury Junior's wallah -- Paul Köppe; Dora, his niece -- Dorothy Blackburn; Mr. Gibb, President of the society for the suppression of Gambling by Children -- Harold Jennings; Mrs. Gibb, his wife -- Helen Miller; Tom Bellaby, a young lawyer -- Frank Joice; Mr. Simpson, manager of Bombay House -- Homer Schutt.
The admission prices for the class play are 25 and 35 cents.
Thursday evening, beginning at eight o'clock, the actual graduation exercises with distribution of diplomas will take place in the opera house. There will be the following programme:
Music, from the high school orchestra; a prayer, from Pastor W. H. Shepfer; "Anchored" by the high school glee club; welcome speech -- "Life" -- by Victor Steffel, the winner of the second-highest grades; Farewell address -- "service for Humanity" -- by Ancel Bell, winner of the highest marks; piano duet, by Laura Boston and Estella Moll; speech to the class, by Governor Woodridge N. Ferris of Michigan; "An Irish Folk Song" by Miss Mariann Childs; distribution of the diplomas, by Mr. A. M. Minsel, president of the School Board; singing of the class-song, text by Archie Bell; music, from the high school orchestra.
Also for the school celebration on Thursday evening the admission prices will be 25 and 35 cents. The graduating class will sit together in the following order:

Closing Ceremonies for the High School.
With the coming Sunday will begin the ?end-of -year celebrations for the Defiance High school. On Sunday evening Pastor O. E. Crist will give the class the baccalaureate address in the English Methodist Church, on Wednesday evening in the opera house the class play will be presented and on Thursday evening will take place there also the actual closing ceremonies at which the 46 youths and maidens will receive their diplomas. We will provide the programme for the closing ceremonies next week. The graduates are:
