Emanuel Gearing died Thursday morning unexpectedly suddenly in his residence No. 236 Corwln Street from heart disease. He was a longtime citizen of our city and a faithful, upright fellow, who tried to live up to all aspects of his duties. If he had lived to the 14th of November, he would have been 63 years old. Surviving him are his widow and the following children: Jacob and Grover Gearing in Toledo, Arthur Gearing in Mark Center, Mrs. Berthold Koch in Ann Arbor, and Miss Iona Gearing here in the parental residence. His mortal remains received Christian burial Saturday afternoon from the former residence to the Brunersburg Cemetery.

John Norway
John Norway, one of the oldest and most esteemed citizens of Farmer Township, died on Wednesday of the previous week in his residence there. He was born on the 31st of December 1836 in Lisbon Township, Lawrence County, New York, and thus brought his lifetime to 74 years, 8 months and 13 days. On the 28th of December 1858 he came to Farmer Township and remained resident there until his life's end. Most [of the time] he practiced the occupation of merchant, was Postmaster for many years and occupied various positions of trust in his township. In the year 1880 he was the Republican candidate for county auditor but was defeated by the publisher of this newspaper. Surviving him are his widow, four grown children and a large number of grandchildren. On Saturday his remains received Christian burial.

Wilhelm Friedrich Frank
Wilhelm Friedrich Frank, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Frank, died Saturday evening about 9 o'clock in the parental residence in Pleasant Township, Henry County after an illness of about 5 years, from consumption. Anything that medical art and faithful care could do, was done in his case, but all for naught; the patient wasted away, until a gentle death freed him from his misery. The deceased was unmarried and was 30 years, 8 months and 9 days old. Surviving him are the deeply grieving parents and the following siblings: Georg Frank, Mrs. Henriette Foss, Mrs. Katharine Hoffmann, Miss Lydia Frank and Miss Lillie Frank. His remains were laid to the final rest on Tuesday morning, after Pastor F. W. Kratz from Toledo, the former minister of the deceased, had held the funeral service at 9 o'clock in the family residence and at 10 o'clock in the Reformed Church in New Bavaria.

Sebastian Rothmann
Sebastian Rothmann, who for almost half a century had his home in Pleasant Township, Henry County, died on Thursday evening shortly after 5 o'clock quite suddenly and with no previous illness. He had just had his supper and had gone into the farmyard to take care of some light work when he fell over next to the watering trough and gave up his ghost.
His wife found him there shortly as a corpse. If he had lived to the 14th of December, he would have been 78 years old. He was born in Elsass[-Löthringen] and came to this country with his parents as a 12 year-old boy. In July 1867 he settled in Pleasant Township and remained resident there to the end of his days. With the widow, he is survlved by the following children: Joseph Rothmann near Holgate, Mrs. Mary Ditzen in New Bavaria, Mrs. Gertrude Schlembach in Defiance, Mrs. Lena Like near Leipsic, O., Jakob Rothmann near New Bavaria, Mrs. Lizzie Schwab near Holgate, John Rothmann near New Bavaria, Mrs. Katie Zierolf in Findlay and Matth. Rothmann in Cleveland, Ohio. Besides, there are 13 grandchildren alive. The deceased was in all circles liked and respected. His mortal remains were buried Sunday morning at 10 o'clock from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Theo. Kolb officiated.

Anna Maria Elise Retcher
Anna Maria Elise Retcher, daughter of the late Christian and Sophia Dickmann and wife of Mr. Friedrich Retcher, died Saturday morning about 9 o'clock in the family residence in South Richland after a painful illness, from a bilious complaint. She was born on the 6th of October 1860 in Adams Township, received Holy Baptism from Pastor Friedrich Knape and from Pastor C. Strauss the Confirmation. As a young woman of 18 years in 1878 on the second Christmas day she entered into holy Matrimony with Mr. Friedrich Rechter and moved at once to a farm in South Richland, where she spent the rest of her life -- a faithful support to her husband, and a loving and caring mother to their children. Of the 14 children which she presented to her husband, mourning her death with him are the following 10 children: Friedrich Rechter, Mrs. Elisabeth Rettig, Mrs. Sophia Behrens, Mrs. Maria Rettig, Anna, Karoline, Johann, Ernst, Hermann and Klara Rechter. Additionally she is survived by the brother Georg Dickmann in Adams Township and the sister Mrs. Hermann Tietjen near Hamler. And with them many friends offer their sincere sympathy for their bitter loss.
The burial of the mortal remains took place Monday noon, after Pastor Theo. Schwankovsky had held a funeral service at 9:30 in the home and an hour later in the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Florida.
