In the residence of his son in Jewell on Sunday, Jakob Kamm died from a stroke at the age of 67 years and 9 months. He was born in the Kingdom of Bavaria and came many years ago to Defiance, where he followed the profession of stone mason (?stone cutter) until an accident and the ongoing illness resulting from it forced him into idleness. For a long time he stayed with his sister-in-law, the widow of Johann Wolfrum in Highland Township, for the last year with his aforementioned son.
Besides these he leaves behind the son Karl, here resident, the daughter Mrs. Gerhard Diemer on the South Ridge and Mrs. Fr. Antener Jr. in Toledo. His Wife has been an inmate of the State Hospital in Toledo for a long time.
His remains were buried in Riverside Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess. [d 8 Mar 1908]
Jakob Frank
After an especially lengthy siege of illness, which was a severe test of his patience, on Saturday morning between 6 and 7 o'clock, Jakob Frank died in his residence in Highland Township at the age of 48 years, 5 months and 18 days.
He was born on the 9th of October 1859 in Hundsberg, Gaildorf District, Wuerttemberg and immigrated to this country in October 1880, where he settled immediately in our vicinity. In the year 1887, on the 15th of March, he entered into holy matrimony with Miss Karoline Kastner, who with the three daughters Mrs. Robert Schatz, Mrs. Georg Memmer and Miss Karoline Frank survives. In 1906 he caught a severe cold, which developed into his fatal illness.
The burial took place Monday afternoon from the former residence and the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor W. Lussky officiated, and a large number of mourners gave the deceased a last cortege.
David Schweitzer
After an especially lengthy siege of illness, David Schweitzer this past Friday night about 10 minutes to twelve, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 9 days in his residence on North Clinton Street. He was born on the 15th of December 1846 near Sigmaringen in the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg and about Christmas in the year 1868 came to this country, where he settled at once in Defiance. He worked for many years in the tannery of the late Abraham Baum and later in the forge of the Defiance Machine Factory; in the past years, kidney and lung complaints made [such] work impossible. On the 26th of October 1872 he married Miss Gertrud Schlembach, who presented him with six children. Of these, the son Georg died a few years ago, while with the widowed mother remain sons Wilhelm, Peter and Frank, as well as the still single daughters Klara and Christine. The deceased was a member of the A.G.D. Sickness Support Society up until his death.
The burial took place Monday morning under the direction of Father Gloden from the St. John's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were the Mr's C. M. Reineneier, Christian Diehl, Sr., Alb. Geiger, Joseph Veith, Sr., Caspar Kahl and Christian Schmidt.

Maria Ellen Aschbacher
Maria Ellen Aschbacher, daughter of the late Johann and Lavina Hiester and wife of Mr. Daniel Aschbacher, died Friday evening about a quarter past 6 in her residence in South Richland after a lengthy illness from kidney disease. She was born on the 13th of February 1852 in South Richland and in that beautiful area has spent her entire life. On the 5th of September 1872 she and Daniel Aschbacher were the first couple to be wed in the newly completed St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church here, by Pastor Johannes Deindörfer. She presented her husband with two sons, Erwin and Arnold, who both live with their families on the old homestead in South Richland. The deceased was the last member of the Johann Hiester family; father, mother and the two sisters Mrs. Heinrich Ort and Mrs. Heinrich Hohenberger have all preceded her to a better place -- the father and the younger sisters within the past 2 years. She was a faithful wife and a caring mother, respected in the circle of her many acquaintances.
The burial took place Sunday afternoon under the direction of Pastor N. E. Bitz from the former residence and the St. John's Reformed Church to the Riverside Cemetery. A large number of mourners followed the casket to the grave site.
Pallbearers were Georg Wirth, O. Finn, Jas. Brockelsby, Del. Walters, Georg Ort and Chas. McCaulley; the flowerbearers, Ed. Degler and Roy Ort.
