After such an extremely lengthy siege of illness that Death came as a welcome release from extreme misery, on last Friday afternoon about 1 o'clock the wife of Mr. Henry Oestreicher died in the family residence at No. 815 Harrison Street . Christine Oestreicher, born Schuster, first saw the light of day on the 22nd of April 1838 in Dirmstein in the Kingdom of Bavaria and married Mr. Heinrich Oestreicher in Gerolsheim on the 4th of July 1874. He came to Defiance in the year 1882 and in the following year, after he had found employment here and a living (livelihood) for them, had his wife and children follow him. Since then the family has resided here and enjoyed the goodwill of all who know them. Of the five children resulting from the marriage, one boy died in Germany. The surviving children are Mrs. Maria Engelhardt from here, Fritz Oestreicher in Lima, widow Christine Ockel and Mrs. Kathe Ford from here. Additionally survive 3 grandchildren.The burial took place Monday morning from the former home to the Riverside Cemetery. The members of the German Women's Sickness Aid Society, to which the deceased had belonged, gave her a funeral cortege to the grave site. -- May the faithful wife and mother rest in peace!

Peter Ziegler
Peter Ziegler, who earlier had lived in Defiance and did business as innkeeper, died on the morning of the 3rd of November in Toledo after a many rear lingering illness. He was born about 65 years ago in Weiler by Weissenburg, Elsass and came as a youth to this country. He was twice married. His first wife, a born Altschuh, rests in the Churchyard here; the second survives him. From his first marriage there are four children, namely the daughters Mrs. Peter Shannon and Miss Sophia Ziegler from here, and the sons Peter B. Ziegler in Muskogee, Okla., and Edward H. Ziegler in Shelby, Ohio.
The deceased's remains were brought hither Friday morning and buried in Riverside Cemetery from the St. John's Catholic Church under the direction of Father Gloden.

Friedrich Wilhelm Reineke
After an unusually lengthy illness, on Tuesday afternoon about 4 o'clock, Friedrich W. Reineke died in his residence at No. 838 Wayne Street, from stomach cancer. He was born on the 30th of April 1842 in Gottberg, Osterburg County in the district of Magdeburg, Prussia. He was confirmed in Gross-Beuster by Pastor Sagler, and came to America in July of the year 1869. He settled at once in Defiance and since then has lived among us and spent many years as a factory worker and later merchant to faithfully look out for his family's material necessities. In the year 1870 he married Friedericke Hanker, who gave him eight children. Besides his wife he is survived by six children: Mrs. Pauline Röhrs, Friedrich W., Miss Louie, Heinrich, Miss Verona and Johann Reinecke, of whom the last four still live in the family home. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, the sister Mrs. Johann Schimpf in Delaware township and half-brother Karl Fessel of here. His aged mother had died twelve years to the day before him.
Mr. Reinecke fell ill at the end of February 1907 from the grippe (influenza) and never regained his health; he had been bedridden for four months. He was an upright fellow and a faithful member of the St. John's Lutheran congregation, and also belonged to the Sickness Support Society. The funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the former residence and at 2 o'clock in the St. John's Lutheran Church.

Louis Buchholz
Louis Buchholz died on Monday evening about 8:30 after a lengthy and painful sickbed in his residence at No. 616 East Hopkins Street at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 29 days. He was born in the Grand Duchy of Baden and came to this country as a youth. He settled in Defiance about the near 1876, along with the Turnbull Wagon Factory relocated from Napoleon, and has lived here ever since. He is survived by his widow and four sons: Thomas Buchholz, current Sheriff of Defiance County , William, Frank and August Buchholz. The deceased was a member of the A.G.D. Sickness Support Society and the Turnbull Support Society. The burial will take place Friday morning from St. Mary's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery.
