Jacob Stuckey died on Friday morning about half past 6 on his farmstead south of Defiance, from a stomach ulcer. He was born in Switzerland, but had come to this country many years ago. For quite a few years he has resided in the countryside south of here, and one can rightly say of him, that he is liked and respected by a large circle of acquaintances. Remaining behind are his widow, the two sons Nicholas and Oliver Stuckey, the two daughters Mrs. Josephine Hess and Mrs. Elisabeth Lloyd and the two stepsons Henry Ingold and John Bachmann. Jacob Stuckey had brought his lifetime to 72 years. The Christian burial took place Sunday afternoon from the former residence to the Taylor Cemetery. Pastor P. Pope from Ayersville officiated at the burial rites.

Dorothy [Hope] Stonebraker
Dorothy [Hope] Stonebraker, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clement L. Stonebraker, died on Friday night shortly after 11 o clock in the parental residence No. 830 Washington Street after a many-week illness from pneumonia and peritonitis. The child, darling of her parents and siblings, had already survived the crisis of the pneumonia when the other serious illness developed and the ailing and weakened body was just not able to withstand it. Left behind are the sorrowing parents, sisters Lucille and Lois and brother John, to all of whom we offer our sincere sympathy in their bitter loss. The burial of the little remains took place Sunday afternoon from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Pastors Shields and Crow. The little girl had brought her lifetime to 8 years, 9 months and 17 days.

John Schudel
John Schudel died on Saturday evening about 10 o'clock after a lengthy siege of illness in his residence on Fifth Street from a chronic disease. He was born on the 11th of June 1860 in Beggingen near Schaffhausen, Switzerland. There on the 26th of June 1882 he married Miss Margarethe Ruh, with whom he immigrated in the spring of the year 1885.
The family settled in Tiffin Township, but have lived in Defiance for the past twenty years. The deceased, who had reached an age of 52 years, 5 months and 6 days, belonged to the order of the Redmen and was known in wide circles. Left behind are his widow, sons Henry Schudel in Toledo and Albert J. Schudel of here, as well as many grandchildren. The burial took place Tuesday afternoon from the residence of the son Albert, No. 136 East High Street, under the direction of Pastor N. E. Bitz to the Riverside Cemetery.
The survivors wish herewith to offer their thanks to the Ladies' societies and various friends for the many expressions of their love and their sympathy.

Sarah J. Vanvlerah, widow of the (Civil) War veteran Michael Vanvlerah, died Monday morning about 6 o'clock in the residence of her son Jesse, No. 1072 Holgate Avenue, at the age of 93 years and 8 months. Her remains were buried Wednesday afternoon, after a funeral service led by Pastor N. E. Bitz, from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery.
Frieda Elnora Lantow, the youngest daughter of Louis Lantow and his wife Sophia, born Albers, died on Monday morning about a quarter before 5 o'clock in the residence of her brother-in-law Alva J. Terry, No. 636 Francis Street here, after a lengthy illness, from a chronic disease. She was born on the 21st of February 1890 in Tiffin Township and thus has reached the age of 22 years, 9 months and 11 days. Both parents preceded her in death; left behind are the brother Wilhelm F. Lantow in Tiffin Township, as well as the sisters Mrs. Ida Foss and Mrs. Caroline Terry in Defiance, Mrs. Sophia Henkel in Toledo and Mrs. Luella Vogt in Erlin, Ohio. The burial took place Wednesday in the Webb Cemetery, after Pastor F. A. Kiess had held a funeral service at half past 9 o'clock in the former residence and at 10 o'clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
August Miller died on Wednesday afternoon about 3 o'clock in the Jefferson Hospital in Toledo from a stroke attack. On the day before he had gone to Toledo on business and was disturbed on Wednesday morning about 3 o'clock by the stroke. The doctor summoned to help ordered the transfer of the patient to Jefferson Hospital, where his death occurred at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
August Miller was born on the 15th of January 1857 here in Defiance and by Pastor Adam Detzer baptized and in the year 1872 confirmed. Later he moved with his parents to Mark Township, where he spent his youth. For many years he has lived here in the city. In the year 1882 he married Miss Mary Davison from Hicksville, who gave him three children. All died right after birth, and before even two years his wife also died. since then he has made his home with his brother Hermann. He had brought his age to 55 years, 11 months and 3 days. His brothers Herman and Zeno Miller brought his remains hither on Thursday evening to the residence of the former on Deatrick Street, from whence on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess the Christian burial took place at the Riverside Cemetery. He leaves behind the five brothers Wilhelm, Eduard, Hermann, Erwin and Zeno, as well as the three sisters widow Sophia Dürk and Mrs. Emma Dürk of here and Mrs. Julia van Meter in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
