In the Poorhouse, where he just recently had to be taken on account of a chronic illness, the dwarf Thomas Schupp, better known as commodore Schupp, died Monday morning of this week at 35 years of age. The only relatives he leaves behind are two brothers. The remains were buried in Riverside cemetery on Tuesday morning. The English Methodist Preacher T. A. Smucker officiated at the burial.

Mrs. Julia Moon
In the Poorhouse where she has been for a little over a year, on last Friday evening Mrs. Julia Moon, the wife of Peter Moon of Highland Township, at 72 years of age, died as the result of a stroke. The remains were brought Saturday morning to the grave in Taylor's cemetery in Highland Township. The deceased for many years operated a cleaning supplies business in Defiance. Ernest (Curly) Thompson, well known here, is her son from a prior marriage.

Friedrich Demland
A lingering illness of softening of the brain, dropsy, and other infirmities of age led to the death last Wednesday evening of Friedrich Demland in Pleasant township, Henry county. He was from the Wiebke district, Gardelegen county, Kingdom of Prussia by birth and was already almost fifty years [of age] when he came to this area, where he practiced agriculture in his old age. He reached his 72nd year of life in the preceding May. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, many stepchildren, as well as two brothers Wilhelm and Christoph Demland. In the past year, his spouse preceded him into Eternity. His remains were taken Saturday morning from the English Methodist Church in Pleasant Bend to a grave in the Churchyard in Ayersville. Pastor Altman led the funeral service.

Mrs. William Schlembach
In her home on Nicholas Street, on Thursday morning of this week at 2:20, after a long siege of consumption, the wife of William Schlembach, a born Rehme from North Richland, died, leaving behind two small children. on the day of her death she was 29 years old. The burial will take place on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the late home to Riverside cemetery.
John Klein
Died from consumption
In his parents' home on East Hopkins Street on Thursday morning shortly before 11 o'clock, the fireman John Klein, son of Mr. & Mrs. Heinrich and Phoebe Klein, died after a months-long sickbed of consumption. At the fire at Spangler's Elevator in October of last year, he caught a bad cold, which developed into tuberculosis and eventually led to his death. John Klein was born in Danville, Ill., and came with his parents in the year 1892 to Defiance, where he has lived since. He was only 25 years and 7 months old. Besides his parents, he leaves behind the following siblings: Henry Klein, the twin brother George Klein, Jakob Klein and Arthur Klein in Defiance, Louis Klein in Larwell, Ind., Mrs. Mary windesheim and Mrs. Ella Franzway in Kenosha, Wis., Henriette Abele, Phoebe Abele, Tillie Myers and Linde Watson in Defiance.
The burial, led by the Pastor Snook of the Church of the United Brethren, took place Sunday afternoon from the former home with a large number [of mourners]. The Fire Department and the local ?lodge of the National union gave their beloved comrade in corpore (in life) company to the grave. The Regimental Band, to which the deceased had belonged, accompanied the entire cortege with fitting funereal pieces. The pallbeareres were Frank Spring, Roger Daoust, August Biebach, Frank Myers, Frank Feigenbaum and Lem. Sapp.
Joseph Schondel
Shortly before 6 o'clock on Saturday evening in his home in Toledo, after a long siege of brain and kidney disease, Joseph Schondel died at the age of 35 years, 2 months and 6 days. He was born in Defiance, the son of Ignatius and Barbara Schondel, both of whom preceded him [in Death], and had spent most of his time in Defiance. He is survived by his widow -- the former Miss Bertha Schick from Washington Township, the sisters Mrs. Johann Schlembach here, Mrs. Cornelius Salzbach in Buffalo and Mrs. Mary Ellingson in Chicago, as well as brothers George Schondel in Garrett and William Schondel ,n Napoleon. His remains were brought here on Monday evening to the home of his sister Mrs. Schlembach and Tuesday morning were taken from St. John's Catholic Church to Riverside cemetery, under the direction of Father Gloden. The military band accompanied him to the grave.
