To one Defiance couple, President Roosevelt's shift of the Thanksgiving date has proved highly satisfactory.
The change will cause the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Chubb, 206 Pearl Street, to fall on the holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Chubb were married In Defiance, Nov. 23, 1839. For the first three years of their married life, they lived in Kansas Station, near Fostorla.
Forty-seven years ago, they moved to Defiance and for the past 15 years have lived at the Pearl Street address.
Each is 70 years old. Mr. Chubb was born in Coshocton County and Mrs. Chubb in Henry County. They have three children, Mrs. Della Bohner, Toledo, and Miss Marie and Harmon Chubb, both of Defiance. There also are two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The anniversary will be marked with a family dinner at noon.
