A Dynamite Explosion brings the young Hermann Burns an untimely death.
On his farm situated about four miles from Woodburn, Indiana, Hermann Bruns, born and reared in Adams Township in our county, found a sad death. The unfortunate had the left side of the face shattered, the left arm broken in many places, all the fingers on the left hand torn off and the left leg horribly injured. The accident happened about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and death occurred about three hours later. The victim was fully conscious almost until his last breath and suffered very little pain; he could not have believed that the grievous accident would lead to his death.
The young man in such a sorry manner taken from life was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Bruns of the North Ridge. Both parents survive him. Also left behind are the wife and the only nineteen month old little son Freddie, as well as the following five siblings: Wilhelm and Martin Bruns near Woodburn, Frank Bruns, Mrs. Heinrich Schweinhagen and Mrs. Friedrich Lienau, on the North Ridge. The burial took place Monday afternoon with a large attendance from the Evangelical Lutheran Church near Woodburn. Pastor H. C. Müller officiated.
