Mrs. M. Alsina Beardsley, a born cass and wife of Mr. L. E. Beardsley, died on Thursday morning at about half past six o'clock in the family residence on the corner of Wayne and Fourth Streets at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 4 days. In Fall she had had a case of pneumonia, from which she had only just recovered, when just a few weeks ago a severe cold attacked her lungs again and finally led to her death. Mrs. Beardsley was from Coshocton County, Ohio, by birth and had married Mr. Beardsley on the 28th of September 1865. Since then she had resided continuously in Defiance and enjoyed high regard from a wide circle of friends. Surviving her are the widower, the daughter Mrs. O. F. Gillette in Toledo, the daughter Miss Harriet Beardsley of here and the sons Leroy E., Wilber D. and Clifford L. Beardsley also residing in Defiance. Additionally there are six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The burial took place on Sunday afternoon at half past two o'clock from the English Methodist Church to the Riverside cemetery. Pastor P. A. Crow officiated.

Mrs. Mary R. Cromley
Mrs. Mary R. Cromley, widow of the late Jonas Cromley, died on Wednesday morning of the previous week in the residence of her daughter Mrs. Tillie Smith on the Ft. Wayne Street at the age of almost 84 years. She came young to this area and had spent almost the entire time of her life here. She had been ailing for a few years, but severely ill for barely a week. Surviving her are the two daughters, Mrs. Tillie Smith of here and Mrs. F J. Daoust in Toledo, as well as the five sons, William and John in Antwerp, Alexander in Findlay, David and George in Defiance. The burial took place Friday afternoon in the Cromley Graveyard, after Pastor P. A. Crow had held a funeral service in the former residence and in the English Methodist Church.

Grace Nightengale
Grace Nightengale died on Thursday morning about 4 o'clock in the residence of her mother on the corner of First Street and Wayne Avenue, after a short illness at the age of 39 years and 10 days from consumption. The deceased leaves behind only the mother and the brother George; the father and one sister preceded her in death. The deceased was assistant for many years to the dentist B. J. Emery and held the same position with Dr. Lawrence Sherry, until ill health forced her retirement. The Christian burial of her remains took place Saturday morning in the Riverside Cemetery. The Pastors Slagle and shields officiated.

Alexander M. Harris
Alexander M. Harris, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Harris residing at No. 706 Jefferson Street, died Sunday afternoon shortly after five o'clock after a lengthy illness in the parental residence at the age of 23 years, 9 months and 20 days. A few months ago, seriously ill from appendicitis, he was brought hither from South Chicago to the hospital and there immediately operated upon. But his illness was already too far advanced, as blood poisoning set in. He leaves behind the widow, the parents and one brother. His remains were taken Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the former residence privately to the graye in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor F. A. Zimmermann of the Episcopal congregation officiated.

Benjamin B. Kingsbury
Benjamin B. Kingsbury, for 34 years a resident of the city of Defiance, died on last Thursday morning about 9 o'clock in his residence No. 211 East Street from pneumonia. He was born on the 5th of May 1837 in Temple, New Hampshire and so had brought the time of his earthly pilgrimage to 77 years, 10 months and 1 day. In his youth he enjoyed an exemplary upbringing and he seemed to have a special fondness for the study of languages, as he had a fundamental knowledge of many languages, among them the German. In the year 1862 he married Miss Sarah Freeman, who survives him along with the son Benjamin F. Kingsbury and the daughter Miss Elisabeth Kingsbury. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
After Benjamin B. Kingsbury had passed his examinations in the Law, he spent some years in San Jose, Calif., and a long time in St. Charles, Mo., before he settled in Defiance in the year 1880. Since then he has resided here and enjoyed the regard of our collected citizens. He belonged for some years to the city council and was at his passing a member of the school board and president of this body. In him the city loses a good citizen, who always thought of its welfare.
The burial took place Saturday afternoon from the former residence in the Riverside Cemetery.
