Mrs. Sarah Garvey, widow of Clinton Garvey who died here about eight years ago, died in the night Saturday between twelve and one o'clock in her residence at 609 Elbert Street in the 71st year of life. She leaves behind the son C. G. Garvey in New York and the daughter Mrs. G. L. Copper in Newark, Ohio. Her remains were buried Tuesday afternoon from the former residence under the direction of the Baptist preacher T. G. Erler in the Riverside Cemetery.

Rosilla Anna Pahl
Rosilla Anna Pahl, a daughter of the widow Mary Pahl residing near Jewell, died on Saturday evening in Defiance Hospital, where on the Wednesday before she had undergone an operation for goiter, at the age of 23 years and 23 days. In the previous spring the young lady, a gifted and well-liked school teacher, had undergone an operation for appendicitis.
Her remains were brought in Martin's ambulance to the residence of her mother and on Tuesday morning under the direction of Father G. Schmitz from the St. Michael's Catholic Church buried in the congregation's graveyard. Besides the mother the sister Miss Caroline Pahl is left behind.

Andrew C. Smith
Andrew C. Smith died on Tuesday morning at a quarter past ten o'clock in his residence at 424 Van Buren Street after a lengthy illness. Born on the 5th of July 1850 at Poppenlauer, Bavaria, he came as a 5 year old boy to Defiance and remained resident here for the rest of his life. As a traveling salesman for the Christ. Diehl Brewery, he became well known throughout all of northwest Ohio. surviving him are the widow Aurelia, whom he married in 1874, and the daughter Mrs. Louis Stock. with them a large circle of friends mourn the death of a generally well-liked fellow. The burial took place Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the former residence in the Riverside Cemetery.
William Longsmith passed from this life on Friday morning about 8 o'clock in his residence in Defiance Township after an almost two month illness at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 19 days. He hailed from Buffalo, New York and came as a 6 year old boy to Defiance Township, where he spent the rest of his life. In 1874 he married Susanna Boughers, who gave him three children, namely Harry, Cora and Klara, of whom Klara died in earliest childhood. Shortly thereafter his spouse also died. In the year 1887 the widower married Miss Sophie Storck, who gave him the son Samuel. Along with her, surviving him are the sons Harry and Samuel Longsmith, the daughter Mrs. Albert Ratzlaff in Brunersburg, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The burial of his remains took place Monday afternoon under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess from the former residence and the St. John's Lutheran Church in the Riverside Cemetery.

Ernst Wichmann
Ernst Wichmann in South Richland, whose passing at 9 o'clock on the evening of the 31st of March was reported shortly in our previous issue, was born on the 4th of January 1853 in Stellichte in the Hanoverian district of Fallingbostel, and had brought his lifetime to 67 years, 2 months and 26 days. In the year 1870 he immigrated to this country and resided at first in Adams Township, where in the year 1877 he married Miss Maria Buntz. Eleven years later he settled down in South Richland and practiced agriculture there up until a few years ago. In the past few years he suffered much from asthma and a severe heart condition. Surviving him are the widow, the sons Ernst J. Wichmann near Broomfield, Colorado, and Friedrich Wichmann in South Richland, the daughters Mrs. Hermann Bunke in Flatrock Township and Mrs. Rudolph Hollrich in Highland Township, the brothers Heinrich in Florida and Adolph in Nebraska, the sister Mrs. Freidrich Gerken in Adams Township and 16 grandchildren. His remains taken to the grave Friday afternoon with a large attendance from the former residence and the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Florida in the graveyard of the congregation. Pastor Theo. Schwankovsky officiated. The deceased was a well-liked and respected fellow, whom many friends will mourn. We wish for him eternal rest after his great suffering.
