William Geiger on Saturday morning about 10 o'clock in his residence No. 830 Clinton Street after lengthy suffering was taken from this time by an easy death. He was born on the 29th of January 1863 in Defiance as son of the late Christian L. and Caroline Geiger and had resided here his entire life. 0n the 12th of May 1886 he married Miss Helen Brown, who survives him with the following children: Mrs. Mildred Lamb in Toledo, and Misses Edna, Ruth and Dorothy and William Geiger in the parental home.
He operated a furniture factor with his father and by himself for 35 years, and then for a time was president of the Screw Machine Products Company. At the founding of the State Bank in 1901 he became vice-president and in 1912 was chosen as president, which post he occupied until his passing. Besides that Mr. Geiger was vice-president of the Northwestern Telephone Company and director of the Security Building & Loan Company. He served in the city council six years, and on the school board ten years, and also served many terms as a member of the Republican Central Committee of Ohio. He belonged to the Free Masons and the Knights of Pythias and was a lifelong member of the German Methodist Episcopal congregation. Along with his widow and his children, mourning his death are the sisters Mrs. Kate Kahlo, Mrs. Clara Behne, Mrs. Bertha Schrag and Miss Mamie Geiger of here, Mrs. Amanda Kress in Toledo, Mrs. Emma Will in San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Esther Baltes in Norfolk, Va. He was a modest and unpretentious fellow, whom a wide circle of friends mourn.
His remains were taken to the grave Monday afternoon from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery. The pastors E. O. Crist, Henry Maag and W. H. Musgrove officiated, and acting as pallbearers were the Mr's H. B. Tenzer, Jacob Heimlicher, Karl W. Heerdegen, W.C. Howey, George A. Ensign and Harry L. Burden.

Elicum Ayers
Elicum Ayers, a veteran of the Civil War and many year citizen of our city, died on Saturday evening about 9 o'clock in his residence No. 625 Summit Street at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 24 days. He leaves behind the widow and a few grown children.
His remains were buried Monday afternoon under the direction of Pastor H. B. Robrock in the Riverside Cemetery.

Earl Bailey
Earl Bailey, young son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bailey, residing at No. 1024 Charles Street, died on the previous Wednesday evening at the age of 6 years, 1 month and 12 days. The remains were brought to the grave on Friday in the neighboring Paulding County.
Stewart Gay]ord, a many year resident of Highland Township and a very beloved and respected citizen, died on Saturday morning about 2 o'clock in his residence there at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 21 days. He served in the Civil War as a member of Company E of the 188th Ohio Volunteer infantry Regiment. He leaves behind the widow and one chlld from his second marriage and a few children from the first marriage. His burial took place Monday afternoon under the direction of Pastor H. A. Monahan under the auspices of the Bishop Post of the Grand Army from the Methodist Church in Ayersville to the graveyard there.
Michael Thomas Carey died last Monday morning in his residence on William Street as the result of a stroke attack. He was born in Tipperary County, Ireland and came young to this country, where he resided at first in Ottawa, Ill. In the Civil War he served in the Marines and settled at the beginning of the Seventies with his wife in Defiance, to pass the rest of his life here. He was trustee of Defiance Township a few terms.
Surviving him are the son Thomas M. Carey and the daughter Miss Katherine Carey. His remains were buried Friday morning under the direction of Fr. James A. Lane from the St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Riverside Cemetery. Members of the National Union and the Knights of Columbus, to which organizations he had belonged, gave him a funeral cortege.

Anton C. Pessefall
Anton C. Pessefall died this Wednesday morning about half past 2 in his residence No. 803 Francis Street after lengthy suffering from a heart ailment at the age of almost 58 years. Born in Merlesheim,.Westphalia, Germany, he came as a thirteen year old boy to this country and spent his youth in Adams Township. For years he had been active here in construction and as a manufacturer of cement products. Surviving him are three sons and three daughters; the spouse preceded him in death on the 30th of October 1907.
The time of the burial had not yet been set at the time this report went to print.
