Mrs. Henry Maranda died about midnight on Thursday after a lengthy illness in the family residence No. 1052 Wayne street at the age of 52 years 9 months and 13 days. Surviving are the husband and one daughter. Her remains were buried Monday morning under the direction of Father G. A. Brannigan from the St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Riverside Cemetery.

Robert James McBroom died on Moday morning about 9 o'clock in his residence No. 851 Jefferson Street after a lengthy illness from a stomach ailment. He was born in Canada and came in the prime of his life to Defiance, where he has resided ever since. He was 71 years, 3 months and 22 days old and leaves behind a widow with the two sons Joseph and Clarence. The burial of his remains took place Wednesday morning in the Riverside Cemetery after a funeral service held by Father G. A. Brannigan in the St. Mary's Church.

Mrs. Maria Sloppy
Mrs. Maria Sloppy, widow of Joel Sloppy who died four years ago in Brunersburg, died Thursday morning about 1:15 in the residence of her son Charles in Brunersburg at the age of almost 87 years. Besides the aforementioned son she leaves behind the sons Joel in Paulding County and Jacob C. in Owosso, Mich., the daughter Mrs. Lillie C. Lloyd in Defiance, one sister, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her remains were buried Monday in the Sherman Cemetery near Charloe, Paulding County, after Pastor N. E. Bitz had held a funeral service in the morning in the home and the St. John's Reformed Church.

Wilhelm Dietrich
Wilhelm Dietrich died last Thursday evening in the state Hospital in Toledo, to which he had been admitted about three years ago when as the result of an illness he had become melancholic. He was born on the 15th of December 1872 in Defiance County as the son of Jakob Dietrich and wife and here in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church baptized and confirmed. On the 26th of November 1896 he married Miss Margaret Moran, who with six children survives. Also left behind are two brothers and three sisters. On Friday evening his remains were brought to Defiance to the residence of his brother-in-law Wilhelm Hanker No. 820 Francis Street and on Sunday afternoon from there buried in the Riverside Cemetery after a short funeral service held by Pastor F. A. Kiess.

Mrs. Barbara Müller
Mrs. Barbara Müller, a born Ogg and widow of the Jakob Müller who died on the17th of July 1911, died from pneumonia on Sunday evening about half past six in her residence on the old homestead in Tiffin Township after an almost ten day illness. She was born on the 25th of December 1837 in the Swiss Canton of Schaffhausen, and thus had brought the time of her pilgrimage here below to 76 years, 5 months and 13 days. In January of the year 1862 she married Mr. Jakob Müller and in May 1882 the family came to this country, settling in this area. Of five sons and one daughter, to whom Mrs. Müller gave life, two died in childhood and two after they were already grown. Surviving are the two sons Henry A. Müller in Tiffin township and John Müller in North Richland, the two sisters Mrs. Katharine Hübscher in Archbold and Mrs. Margarethe Hübscher in West Toledo, the brother Jakob Ogg in Switzerland and five grandchildren.
The burial took place Tuesday afternoon, after Pastor Jakob Vogt from Archbold had held a funeral service in the German and English languages at 1 o'clock in the Reformed Church in Springfield township, Williams County.

Miss Lydia Foss
Miss Lydia Foss, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Foss of Highland Township, who both preceded her to Rest, died last Friday morning about eight o'clock in the vicinity of Fraser, Mich., in the residence of her brother-in-law Paul Diemer after a two year illness from tuberculosis. She had moved in the previous fall, weak and ill, to her brother-in-law and sister, where through the winter she received the most faithful care. There was no medical help left for her; her weakness took the upper hand, until on Friday morning she breathed away her young life. She had brought her age to only 25 years, 6 months and 20 days. Surviving the deceased are the following twelve siblings: Mrs. Katie Goller in Highland, Mrs. Anna Pfau and Mrs. Ella Pfau in Pleasant, Mrs. Emma Diemer near Fraser, Mich., Mrs. Alma Pracht in Defiance, Miss Minnie Foss in Pleasant, Karl Foss in Continental, Henry and Ernst Foss in Defiance, George and Adolph Foss in Highland, and William Foss, who only recently returned home from California.
Her remains were brought hither Friday evening to the old Foss homestead in Highland Township. From there and the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Sunday morning the burial took place with a large attendance in the graveyard of the congregation under the direction of Pastor C. Schroder.
