Harriet Mable Osborn, wife of Mr. Frank M. Osborn, died on Sunday towards evening in her residence in Defiance township after a lengthy illness from consumption. Surviving with the widower are two children and three stepchildren. The burial took place on Tuesday afternoon under the direction of Pastor W. O. Montague from the united Brethren Church in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Maria Herbert-Pessefall
Mrs. Maria Herbert-Pessefall died on Friday morning about 9 o'clock in Delaware Township in the residence of her son William Herbert at the age of about 80 years. She had just arrived two weeks ago from Fremont, Ohio, to visit the aforementioned son. The deceased was twice married, but both her spouses preceded her in death -- the second spouse, Anton Pessefall in the year 1901. She leaves behind, as far as we know, five children and seven step-children. The burial took place Monday morning under the direction of Father G. J. May of The Bend from the St. John's Catholic Church in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary E. Vandette
Mrs. Mary E. Vandette, a born Burns and wife of M. G. Vandette residing in Gladwin, Mich., died on the 9th of March there at the age of 47 years. In earlier years she resided near Sherwood and leaves behind many relatives in this area. Her remains were brought Thursday morning to Defiance to the residence of her sister Mrs. Leonhard Hasselschwartz on Washington Avenue and on the morning of the following day were buried in the Riverside Cemetery from the St. John's Catholic Church under the direction of Father L. Plumann.
The pallbearers were John E. Nolan, Earl Hench, J. F. Heinrich, Alf. J. Wolsiffer, Albert J. Mangas and Frank B. Diehl.

Louis H. Aspacher
Louis H. Aspacher, son of Christ. and Rosine Aspacher in Nobel Township, died on Tuesday morning about 2 o'clock in the parental residence from a kidney complaint, by which he had been stricken four years ago and which the medical arts and the best care could not cure. He was born on the 11th of April 1901 and on the 5th of April 1911 confirmed in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a brave, christian youth, whose premature death is mourned by many friends along with the family. He had brought his lifetime to 17 years, 11 months and 8 days. Remaining behind are the parents, the brother Hermann and the stepbrother Johann. The burial will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Brunersburg Cemetery.

Mrs. C.E. Chenevert, Mrs. Edwin C. Bullock
A severe automobile accident. Two women dead at the scene.
Shortly after 11 o'clock Friday night an automobile accident occurred near Grelton, between Waterville and Napoleon, in which Mrs. C. E. Chenevert of Defiance and Mrs. Edwin C. Bullock of Chicago, the former Miss D'Nelle Wilhelm from here, lost their lives.
A party, consisting of Walter Wilhelm and wife from Eddystone, Penna., Mrs. Edwin C. Bullock from Chicago, Earl Wilhelm from Indianapolis, Mrs. J. R. Wilhelm, C. E. Chenevert with wife and daughter Lillian from Defiance were traveling at the mentioned time on the trip home from a dinner in Waterville, which had been held in honor of Mrs. Dwight Peterson from Toledo. The latter had given a talk that afternoon here in the Free Masons' Temple concerning Red Cross work. Walter Wilhelm steered the heavy automobile, which suddenly went out of control and turned over, so that the wheels were on top and all the passengers were trapped underneath. Mrs. C. E. Chenevert and Mrs. Edwin C. Bullock broke their necks and were dead at the scene. Carl Wilhelm broke the left arm, C. E. Chenevert the right collarbone, and both suffered besides contusions over the entire body. Lillian Chenevert received a cut on the right hand, Mrs. Wilhelm was injured in the hips and in the back, and Walter Wilhelm and wife in the face and on various body parts. In no case are the injuries absolutely critical. The bodies and all the injured were taken to Defiance.
Mrs. Chenevert was 44 years old and leaves behind the widower, the son Jack and the daughter Lillian. Her remains were buried Monday afternoon under the direction of Pastor F. Zimmerman from the family residence on Jackson Avenue in the Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwin C. Bullock, who with her brothers Walter and Earl Wilhelm was here to visit their mother Mrs. J. R. Wilhelm, was 28 years old and just over two years married with Edwin C. Bullock of Chicago. Besides the already mentioned family members, she leaves behind the sister Mrs. Holgate Harley residing here. The burial took place Monday morning from the St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Riverside Cemetery.
Sincere sympathy is offered by all to the families so severely stricken.

Samuel A. Maxwell
Samuel A. Maxwell died Saturday morning at about half past five o'clock in his residence on Clinton Street from a stroke attack, which he had suffered in the night of the previous Tuesday. Born on the 23rd of February 1844 in Fredericksburg, Ohio, he came as a four year old boy to Defiance county and had spent the rest of his life here -- part in Hicksville, part in the city of Defiance. From 1894 until 1898 he was the county recorder, then moved back to Hicksville and returned in 1904 to Defiance, remaining resident here until the end of his life. The last years of his life he became totally blind as the result of an eye complaint. Surviving him are the widow, whom he married on the 5th of July 1867, with the following children: Mrs. E. D. Hilbert in Hicksville; Mrs. Dey Ayers, Claude E. Maxwell, Mrs. F. A. Weisenburger and Mrs. Harry Schlosser in Defiance; Clyde M. and Carl O. Maxwell in Cleveland; W. R. Maxwell in Akron; Allen G. Maxwell in Toledo. Also left behind are two sisters and one brother. His remains were buried Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor C. E. Shields officiated. All the offices in the town hall were closed during the burial. Pallbearers were Wm. Gilson, W. A. Snider, Roger Daoust, S. A. Hull, Carl Smith and Newt. Bronson.

Mrs. Frieda Helmke
Mrs. Frieda Helmke, wife of Dietrich Helmke and daughter of Heinrich and Meta Bockelmann, was taken from this time by death on Thursday about noon in the family residence in North Richland after a short illness. She was born in Hannover in the old Fatherland and came as an infant of six months with her family to America. On the 9th of February 1911 she was joined in marriage by Pastor Theo. Schwankovsky of Florida O., with Dietrich Helmke. This marriage resulted in two baby boys, who are now two and four years of age and still very needful of their mother's loving care. The deceased had brought the time of her earthly pilgrimage to 32 years, 10 months and 24 days. Relatives mourning her very sad death are the widower with the two boys, the parents, the brothers Karl and Wilhelm Bockelmann, the sisters Mrs. Otto Meyer and Miss Dore Bockelmann, as well as a large circle of friends.
The burial took place Sunday in the graveyard at Florida, after Pastor Schwankovsky had held a funeral service at 9 o'clock in the former residence and at 10 o'clock in the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Florida. We wish to offer the deeply sorrowing relatives our most sincere condolences.

Timothy Murphy
Timothy Murphy died on Friday night in the state Hospital in Toledo at the age of 50 years. He had served earlier as a locomotive engineer for the B. & O. Railroad Company and received injuries in the course of his duties, which resulted in mental derangement.
Since 1907 he was confined in the aforementioned State Hospital. His remains were brought hither Saturday morning to the residence of his sister Mrs. J. P. McGushin on Harrison Avenue and on Monday morning under the direction of Father Lane from the St. Mary's Catholic Church buried in the Riverside Cemetery. Besides the aforementioned sister the deceased leaves behind the brothers John and Ed. Murphy, residing here.

Cord Heinrich Röhrs
Cord Heinrich Röhrs, born on the 15th of April 1836 at Bisselhövede, Rotenburg District, Hannover, died on Saturday shortly before noon 80 years, 6 months and 20 days old here in his residence No. 205 Main Street. In the year 1859 he immigrated to this country, landed in California and came soon thereafter to Noble Township in our county, where up until a few years ago he practiced agriculture. The last years he lived here in retirement. On the 2nd of December 1870 Cord Heinrich Röhrs married Miss Anna Meyer, who presented him with 13 children, of whom five preceded him into Eternity. Along with the widow, surviving him are the following children: Ernst near Liberty Center, Ohio, Johann and Ferdinand on the old homestead in Noble Township, Hubert in Defiance, Miss Wilhelmine Röhrs , Mrs. Alfred Held in Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Karl Rosebrock in Delaware Township and Mrs. Gale Hohenberger in Highland Township. Besides these remaining behind are 16 grandchildren and the two brothers Friedrich and Wilhelm Röhrs in Noble Township.
The deceased was a faithful Christian and a good citizen, on whom one could count. His mortal remains were buried Wednesday morning in the Brunersburg Cemetery. Prior to that, a funeral service was held under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess at 9 o'clock in the former residence and at half past 9 o'clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with a large attendance.
