Eliza Anna Jaynes, widow of the war veteran Lewis Jaynes who died a few years ago here, died on Sunday evening at 7:40 in her residence No. l054 Ayersvllle Avenue at the age of 80 years,6 months and 13 days, from the infirmities of age. She resided in Defiance for many years and leaves behind a number of grown children. Her remains were buried Wednesday afternoon in the Riverside Cemetery, after a funeral service had been held by Pastor F. A. Kiess at half past 1 o'clock in the former residence and at 2 o clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Gottlieb Schultz
Gottlieb Schultz, who was able to count himself among the German pioneers of Defiance County, took his last breath on Friday afternoon about three o'clock after a lengthy illness in his residence No. 1001 Washington Avenue. He was born on the 5th of April 1834 at Gross-Schönebeck bei Liebenwalde, Prussia, and had thus brought his lifetime to 82 years, 10 months and 18 days. As a 27 year old youth he immigrated to this country and settled soon thereafter in Highland Township in our county, where he occupied himself with farming up until about six years ago. Since then he and his life's companion Christine, a born Fullmer, whom he married about 51 years ago, have resided here in the city. Surviving him are the widow, the adopted daughter Mrs. Bertha Byers, the brother Michael Schultz and the sister Mrs. Henriette Spengler of here and the brother Wilhelm Schultz in the state of Kansas.
The deceased was a simple and faithful fellow, who attended to his duties seriously and ever tried to perform them properly. And we ourselves have lost in him a good old friend. His remains were taken Sunday afternoon from the former residence under the direction of Pastor H. Fölsch to the grave in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Julius Spengler, Karl Spengler, Alwin Spengler, August Schultz, Ed. A. Schultz and August Wandt.

Rudolph Markey
Rudolph Markey died on Wednesday of the previous week about half past two in his residence No. 821 Harrison Avenue after a lengthy illness. He was born in the year 1856 in Switzerland and came as an 8 year old boy to Defiance, where he had lived ever since: On the 20th of May 1868 he married Maria Katharine Weidner, who presented him with five children. Of these, surviving him with the widow are the sons Fred. and John Markey and the daughters Mrs. William Feary and Mrs. Orville Corwin. Additionally there are five grandchildren and one sister left behind. Rudolph Markey had brought his age to 70 years, 10 months and 19 days. The burial took place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were both the sons, the two stepsons, the grandson Ed. Corwin and Mr. Christian Winkler.

Johann C. Richter
Johann C. Richter died on Friday shortly before noon in the residence of his niece Mrs. Andreas March in South Richland, where he had moved on the 14th of November and where he found loving care. Mr, Richter died from the infirmities of age. Born on the 19th of October 1840 at Wüstenselbitz, Bavaria and came as a 12 year old boy with his parents and two sisters -- the since deceased Mrs. John Böhm and Mrs. Peter Thieroff -- to America, where the family first resided on the farm bel0nging to Andr. Dirr in Pleasant Township, Henry County. About 45 years ago they moved to Defiance and remained then resident here until now their least member has been laid in the grave.
Since the death of the aged mother on the 10th of April 1911, Johann C. Richter had lived completely alone here on Seneca Street, although his relatives would have gladly taken him in.
He was a quiet, unassuming fellow, against whom no-one had a complaint. He had brought his lifetime to 76 years, 1 month and 12 days.
His mortal remains were buried on Monday here in the Riverside Cemetery, after Pastor C. Schröder had held a funeral service at half past 9 in the former residence and at 10 o'clock in the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church on the South Ridge. At the Cemetery, Pastor F. A. Kiess officiated, the long-time spiritual adviser of the deceased. Acting as pallbearers were Henry Greenler, Christ. Memmer, Georg Bohn, Peter Schuppert, Henry Zachrich and Georg Schatz.
