Georg Wilsberg
Georg Wilsberg died quietly in his sleep on Sunday evening in his residence at 417 Washington Street after a severe (painful?) illness. He was born at Rheinbreitbach near Cologne on the Rhein on the 5th of October 1847. On the 24th of June 1874 he married Miss Maria Mathilde Kupper, who survives him. From this marriage resulted seven children, of whom two died in Germany and three here. The surviving children are the daughter Mrs. Christine Speiser and the son Frank Wilsberg; also remaining behind are the daughter-in-law Mrs. George Wilsberg, the brother Leonhard Wilsberg and four grandchildren. In the year 1881 Georg Wilsberg came with his (family) to Defiance and resided there ever since. He possessed a sanguine disposition and was good at his work. Until stomach cancer befell him, he was always at his post. He belonged to the St. Boniface Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Knights. Many friends mourn with us the passing of this good fellow from the German regions. His remains were taken Wednesday morning from the St. John's Catholic Church under the direction of Father L. Plumann to the grave in the Riverside Cemetery.
