Jeanetta Hensler, a born Korn and wife of John Hensler, died on Thursday morning about one o'clock in the family residence No. 516 second Street after a lengthy siege of stomach cancer. She was born on the 29th of April 1856 in Berlin, Holmes County, Ohio. In 1875 she married John Hensler, with whom she came to Defiance a few years later, to remain here resident. Remaining behind are the widower and the two sons George and Jay. One son preceded her in death 27 years ago. The burial took place Sunday afternoon from the former residence under the direction of the Episcopal preacher F. Zimmerman in the Riverside Cemetery.
Jakob Seibel, one of the oldest of the German immigrant citizens of our city, died last Wednesday morning about half past 10 o'clock in Bryan, Ohio, in the residence of his daughter Mrs. Harry E. Huffman after only a few day serious illness from a complicated complaint. He was born on the 5th of October 1830 at Belischweiler in Prussia, and thus had brought the time of his earthly pilgrimage to 87 years, 8 months and 21 days. In the year 1858 in Oberhausen, Prussia he married Miss Katharine Kunz and on the 11th of November 1871 came with her and both their sons Jakob and Peter F. to Defiance, where the family has remained resident ever since. Two of their children died in Germany, the son Jakob was killed in an accident in the year 1878 and the spouse was taken from him by death on the 11th of October 1911. Since then he has resided with his children and had gone to his daughter in Bryan, where he died, on the 1st of June. Remaining behind besides her are the son residing here, Peter F. Seibel, and five grandchildren. His remains were brought on Friday morning to Defiance to the residence of his son and in the afternoon at half past one o'clock buried from there under the direction of Pastor H. Folsch in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Christoph Dürk, Jakob Schneider, Georg Wilsberg, August Wahl, Friedrich Sudholz and George Degginger. The deceased belonged to the A.D.G. Sickness support society and was a simple and faithful citizen. Also to us he was a dear friend, who often found his way to us. We cannot begrudge him his rest as he so strongly desired it in the last years of his corporal frailty.
