Lucile Kruse-Ensign, wife of Chester Ensign, died Tuesday night at almost 12 o'clock after a lengthy illness in the residence of her mother Mrs. Herbert W. Frech on Jackson street. on Wednesday morning the time of the burial had not yet been determined.

Ella Esther Calvin
Ella Esther Calvin, the almost 20 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Calvin in Toledo, died on Saturday there in the parental residence from pneumonia. Her remains were brought to Defiance Monday morning on the Wabash Railroad and buried at once in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor W. H. Musgrove officiated. The deceased was a granddaughter of Mr. George H. Dicus residing on Jackson Street here.

John Philipp Mentley
John Philipp Mentley died quietly in his sleep on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in his residence on the Ottawa Pike in Defiance Township after a very short serious illness. He had suffered much longer with a complicated complaint and was much plagued by asthma, but had been severely ill for only a few days. He had brought his age to 58 years, 6 months and 25 days and had, as far as is known, practiced agriculture for his entire life. on the 20th of May 1880 the late Pastor G. M. Zucker had wed him with Miss Katharine Storck, who with two daughters survives him. These are Mrs. Sophia Delaney and Mrs. Myrtle Newell, both residing here in the city of Defiance. He leaves besides a few brothers and sisters.His remains were buried Saturday afternoon from the former residence in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor W. H. Shepser from the Defiance English Lutheran congregation officiated. The pallbearers were Wm. Peters, W. H. Kibble, J. K. Kraft, Thomas Elliot, J. Holdredge and George Kraft.

Mrs. Mary Frost
Mrs. Mary Frost, a born Marsh and wife of John F. Frost resident here for many years, died in the night on Friday in her residence in Toledo after a lengthy illness at the age of 67 years. She hailed from Delaware Township, where her two brothers John and Nicholas still reside, and leaves behind the widower and the two sons Jay C. and Fletcher Frost in Toledo. There on Monday afternoon her remains were given Christian burial.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Diehl from here attended the burial. The deceased was Mrs. Diehl's aunt and had raised her.

Otto Schöninger
Otto Schöninger, born in Freehold, N.J. and here resident until his move to Toledo about fifteen years ago, died there suddenly on Sunday afternoon in his residence from a heart attack. He was 50 years old and leaves behind two unmarried sons and one married daughter, as well as the siblings Mrs. J. J. Höffel of here, Louis Schöninger in Windsor, Canada, and Miss Emma Schöninger, who since the death of his spouse has run the household. The funeral service took place Wednesday morning in Toledo and in the afternoon the remains arrived here on the Wabash Railroad and were at once taken to the grave in the Riverside Cemetery.

James L. M. LaFountaine
James L. M. LaFountaine died on Sunday evening shortly before 11 o'clock in his residence No. 434 Seneca Street at the age of 49 years, 2 months and 17 days from a complicated illness. He was born in the vicinity of New Bavaria and came about thirty years ago to Defiance, where he has since resided and was until a few weeks ago active in business. On the 25th of September 1895 he married in Napoleon Miss Anna Newton, who survives with 5 children, who all reside in Defiance. They are Cleophas, Raymond, Paul, John and Doris LaFountaine. Mourning his premature death besides with many friends are four brothers and two sisters. The burial took place Wednesday morning in the Riverside Cemetery, after Father James A. Lane had held a funeral service in the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
