She was born on the 14th of November 1844 in Weigenrieth, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, and came in the year 1853 as a 9 year old girl to Defiance, where she resided until the end of her earthly life span. On the 14th of August 1864 she entered into holy matrimony with Mr. Jakob Brubaker; from this marriage four children resulted, of whom two preceded their mother in death. Last summer Mrs. Brubaker underwent a serious operation successfully, recovered her strength, and enjoyed passably good health. On Friday that was suadenly taken away by a heart attack. ?Good for her, she has done well.
The deceased was a Christian wife and mother, a cross-bearer in the true sense of the word. She had brought her earthly pilgrimage to 68 years, 3 months and 23 days. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, after Pastor F. A. Kiess had held a funeral service at half past one in the former residence and at 2 o'clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her sisters from the women's society "Harmonia" and from the German Women's Sickness Support Society, as well as many friends, gave her an escort to the grave. The pallbearers were Wm. Dürk, Heinrich Hohenberger, Rudolph Kenning, Johann Palm, August Wandt, and Wilhelm Pracht, and acting as flower bearers Mrs. F. A. Kiess, Henry Röhrs, Adam Dietsch and Hermann Klenk.
