Miss Iva May Moore died on Friday morning about half past 9 o'clock in the residence of her father G. W. Moore, 934 Washington Avenue, after a lengthy illness at the age of 18 years and 18 days. Along with the parents, some siblings and many friends mourn her premature death. The burial took place Sunday afternoon under the direction of Pastor W. O. Montague from the United Brethren Church in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Oscar Seibel, Homer Dils, Dewey Wirebaugh, Homer Wilmer, George Viebach; flower bearers were Nellie Viebach, Soloma Van Otto, Vera Kies, Ruth Hoschak, Helen Doster and Ruth Heil.

Charles H. Rowland
Charles H. Rowland died Monday morning after a lengthy illness at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 3 days. He was a printer and editor by profession and had learned his trade here many years ago under Francis Brooks on the "Express," worked later in Charlotte, Mich., East Toledo and other cities and was then until his falling ill the advertising agent for the "Express" here. He was a faithful fellow, who had made the greatest sacrifices for his family, all of whom preceded him in death. His remains were prepared for burial in Martin's business, and on Tuesday afternoon at half past 2 buried in the Riverside Cemetery.
Johann Schatz, a son of the German pioneer couple Johann and Anna Margaretha Schatz, died on Wednesday evening on his homestead in Defiance Township after a lengthy illness at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 23 days. Born on the 13th of August 1853 on the South Ridge, soon after his confirmation he moved with his parents and siblings to Defiance Township, where he practiced agriculture until the end of his life. On the 9th of October 1888 he was wed by Pastor G. M. Zucker with Miss Julia Riek, who preceded him in death on the 14th of March 1915. Left behind are the son Arthur Schatz and the daughter Mrs. Durward Karr on the old homestead, the two brothers Heinrich in Hartford County, Maryland, and Georg N. in Defiance Township; the four sisters Miss Katharine Schatz in Defiance Township, Mrs. Friedrich Sudholz and Mrs. H. H. Wrede in Defiance, Mrs. Elisabeth Buchholz in Radcliffe, Iowa.
The deceased was a good citizen and a faithful and upright member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran congregation here. His mortal remains were buried Saturday afternoon under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess from the former residence and the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Riverside Cemetery.
The pallbearers were William Brinkmann, George Newton, Ray Karr, Guy Karr, George Solly and Bert Saubert; flower bearers the Mrs's F. A. Kiess, Ray Karr, Adam Dietsch and David Powers.

Mrs. Charles Mix
Mrs. Charles Mix died last Friday afternoon shortly after 3 o'clock, after she had suffered for a long time and undergone a few operations, at the age of 36 years, 6 months and 21 days in her residence in Ayersville. She leaves behind three children from her first marriage, the spouse and two children from the second marriage. The burial took place on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church in Ayersville under the direction of Pastor H. A. Manahan in the graveyard there.

Mrs. Lettie Schultz, a born Hill and wife of Mr. W. F. Schultz, on Monday evening about half past 8 o'clock after an extremely length illness in her residence No. 602 Jefferson Ayenue, was released from her misery an easy death. She came from Wauseon in neighboring Fulton County and had reached an age of 58 years, 2 months and 4 days. Her burial took place Thursday afternoon at half past 2 o'clock from the English Methodist Church here in the Riverside Cemetery.

Matthias [P.] Eckert, from the Grand Duchy of Baden by birth and for many years resident in Defiance, died Friday evening shortly before 7 o'clock in the residence of his son-in-law William Austin, No. 102 Main Street. His spouse preceded him in death. He had brought his age to 65 years, 1 month and 21 days. He leaves behind a few grown children. His remains were brought to his residence N0. 217 Van Buren Street on Saturday and from there Monday morning given Christian burial in the Brunersburg graveyard.

Morris E. Lynde
Morris E. Lynde died on the preceding Saturday in the hospital at Ft. Wayne after an operation for appendicitis. He was born on the 24th of February 1867 in Natural Bridge, New York, and thus had brought his age to 50 years, 2 months and 19 days. He had resided earlier in Defiance and 18 years ago operated the Russell House here. At his passing he had in Ft. Wayne a confectionary and a shop with ice cream. His remains were brought to Defiance on Monday and on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the auspices of the Defiance Commandery of the Knights Templar were buried in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor E. O. Laudemann from Ft. Wayne officiated. The deceased leaves behind the widow, three brothers and three sisters.
