Clara Yetter
Clara Yetter, wife of Mr. Jakob Yetter, coming in retirement from the South Ridge to Defiance a number of years ago, died last Wednesday evening at almost 9 o'clock in the family residence No. 1027 Holgate Avenue from the infirmities of age. She married about six years ago with the surviving widower in the state of Indiana and moved to Defiance, where she has resided ever since. She has brought her earthly pilgrimage to 85 years. Her death is a hard blow for the very aged widower, who is almost completely blind and helpless. The burial of the remains took place Saturday morning in the Riverside Cemetery, after Pastor H. B. Robrock of the St. John's Reformed Church had held a funeral service at 10 o'clock in the former residence. Acting as pallbearers were Lake Doster, Andrew Lesch, Karl Harmening, William Phillips, Marple Howard and Chas. Mansfield.

John Jacob Markey, also known under the name of his stepfather Nagelmeier, died Monday morning in his residence No. 817 Harrison Street in his ?bedroom from either a heart spasm or a heart attack. His wife found him, who had just the day before had been well, shortly after 8 o'clock unconscious in bed and summoned Dr. J. B. Ury. But the doctor could only certify that death had already occurred. He reported dutifully to the coroner, who decided that since the deceased had suffered from the grippe (influenza) , that holding a coroner's inquest was not necessary.

On the 25th of December 1884 he married Miss Katie Strusacker of Washington township, who with the following children survives: Mrs. Olive Neff in Bryan, Mrs. Mildred McGushin, John Clinton Markey and Miss Alberta Markey of here. Also remaining behind are the brother Rudy Markey and the step-sister Mrs. John Schlosser, who both reside here. The son had just arrived in San Francisco and immediately made the trip home.
