Henry D. Schandel died on Friday morning about half past nine in his newly constructed beautiful residence on sessions Avenue in North Defiance after a short illness, from appendicitis. He was born on the 9th of August 1876 on a farm in the vicinity of Jewell, but had spent the greater part of his life here in Defiance. In the last few years he was the business manager of the grain elevator on the North side. On the 8th of April he became ill with appendicitis and had to undergo an operation, which at first appeared to bring about a cure. But then there was a setback, which shortly led to death. The deceased stood in high regard and the sadness at his passing is therefore also common. He leaves behind the widow, three daughters, two sons, the aged mother Mary Schondel residing here, six sisters and four brothers. The siblings are: Mrs. Jakob Denier in Paulding county, Mrs. John Spangler in Evansport, Mrs. J. E. Schira of here, Mrs. W. H. Brown in Bowling Green, Mrs. A. L. Baker in Lansing, Mich., Mrs. Henry Dietrich in New Bavaria, John Schondel in New Haven, Ind., A. B. Schandel in Wabash, Ind., Jakob Schandel near New Bavaria and Charles Schondel in Paulding county.
Since the Forty Hours celebration was already underway in St. Mary's Catholic Church, his burial took place Monday morning at nine o'clock from the St. John's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery. Father J. P. Gloden celebrated the funeral service.

Mrs. Mary A. Osborne
Mrs. Mary A. Osborne, a born Krieger and wife of Francis M. Osborne, died last Wednesday morning in the family residence on the old Phillips farm in Defiance Township shortly after six o'clock after an illness of only about ten days, from pneumonia. On the Monday before she had given life to an infant son, who a few hours after the mother's death followed her in death.
Mrs. Osborne was born on the 1st of May 1875 in Defiance as the daughter of Johann Krieger and his wife Susanna, born Schliesser, and so had brought her lifetime to 38 years, 9 months and 17 days. On the 16th of July 1896 she married Francis M. Osborne, who survives her with three children. Also left behind are the three brothers John and William Krieger in Defiance and Ernst Krieger in Toledo. The burial took place Friday morning from the former residence to the Taylor Cemetery in Defiance Township. The united Brethren preacher W. C. Demuth officiated. The brother Ernst Krieger from Toledo, as well as Mrs. H. F. Gherken from Ridgeville, two cousins of the deceased, (also) attended the funeral.

Violet Gertrud Davidson
Violet Gertrud Davidson, infant daughter of Paul Davidson and wife, died on Sunday afternoon in the residence of her grandfather John R. Killion, No. 320 East Hopkins Street, at the age of 10 months. The burial of the small remains took place Tuesday morning from the St. Mary's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery.
Wilhelm Beiswenger, better known under the name "Tim" Beiswenger, died on the previous Wednesday evening in his residence in Noble Township after a barely two month long illness at the age of 31 years, 3 months and 27 days from tuberculosis. He was well known as a cattle buyer in this entire area of Defiance County. Surviving him are the widow with the two infant daughters Lelah and Eva. The burial took place Saturday morning from the former residence and the Church in Brunersburg to the cemetery there. Pastor F. A. Kiess from Defiance officiated at the funeral rites.

Mrs. Rose Ann Dohoney
Mrs. Rose Ann Dohoney, wife of Thomas Dohoney, died last Wednesday afternoon at almost four o'clock in the family residence No. 1029 Jefferson Street after a few year siege of illness. She was born on the 18th of May 1854 in Clarke county, Ohio and is thus 59 years, 11 months and 27 days old. she leaves behind the widower, the two sons Edward and Thomas and the two daughters Mrs. A. N. Clemens and Mrs. Arthur Cromley. Since illness is rampant in the Dohoney residence, the remains were taken to the residence of Mr. Clemens on Harrison Street. The burial took place Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from the St. Mary's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery. Father G. A. Brannigan officiated.

William A. Rothoff
William A. Rothoff, hailing from Holland and a resident of the united States since 1848, died on Tuesday morning shortly before 5 o'clock in his residence No. 428 summit Street after a lengthy siege of illness at the age of 80 years and 28 days. He had resided in Defiance since 1867 and was a cigar maker by trade. Remaining behind are the widow and the son William; ten children preceded him in death. The burial will take place on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock under the direction of Fr. J. A. Lanes from the St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Riverside Cemetery.
