Frances Elisabeth Davis, widow of John Davis who died on the 17th of April in South Richland, died on Tuesday morning about 3 o'clock at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 7 days. she leaves behind two sons and two daughters. The son John Edgar preceded her in death on the 24th of April of this year. The funeral service will be Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the former residence.

Maria Anna Schmid
Maria Anna Schmid, a born Biegert and wife of Mr. Sebastian Schmid, died Tuesday morning about 5 o'clock after a few years long and occasionally right painful illness in the family residence No. 943 Wilhelm Street. She first saw the light of day on the 8th of December 1844 at Böhmenkirch in Württemberg, and so had brought her earthly pilgrimage to 70 years, 6 months and 8 days. On the 25th of February 1867 she married Sebastian Schmid, to whom she presented twelve children. Of these, seven died in the old Fatherland and two here; those surviving are Mrs. Theresia Rauth in Noble Township, Miss Maria Ursula Schmid in San Francisco, Cal., and George J. Schmid of here.
To Defiance, where her husband had settled two years before, Mrs. Schmid came with the children in the late Fall of 1884 and since then has resided here. Besides the children remaining behind are: the widower, the brothers Joseph Biegert in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ignaz and Gottfried Biegert in Böhmenkirch, Germany, and five grandchildren. The burial will take place Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the St. John's Catholic Church to the Riverside Cemetery.

Donelda W. Franzdorf
Donelda W. Franzdorf, infant daughter of the married couple Eduard and Sophia Franzdorf, died on Christmas Day about 2 o'clock in the afternoon after a few week illness from a spinal complaint. Born on the 2nd of April 1914, the little girl was only 8 months and 23 days old. The Christian burial took place Sunday afternoon from the family residence No. 910 Francis Street to the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor H. Folsch officiated. The pallbearers were Helen Fessel, Grace Allen, Grace Jager and Ruth Parker.

Charles Shoemaker
The remains of Charles Shoemaker, who many years ago had a business on East Hopkins Street as clock maker and jeweler, were brought Tuesday afternoon from Columbus, Ohio to Defiance and at once buried in the Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Pastor W. H. Shepser.

William F. Davis
William F. Davis, a many year resident of this countryside, died on Sunday morning about 3 o'clock in his residence No. 234 Jackson Street from a heart condition unexpectedly quickly although he had been ailing for a few years. He was a farmer by trade, but had lived here in the city for about the last ten years. He had brought his age to 66 years, 7 months and 19 days. Surviving him are the widow, a few grown children and a number of siblings. His remains were taken Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the former residence under the direction of Pastor P. A. Crow to the grave in the Riverside Cemetery.

Oscar Cromley
Oscar Cromley, a many year resident of our city and a good citizen, died on Friday evening about 8 o'clock in his residence No 703 East Second Street from a complicated complaint after a lengthy illness. He had brought his lifetime to 67 years, 8 months and 6 days and leaves behind the widow with the following grown children: Mrs. Harry Ort in Van Wert, Ohio; Charles and Oscar Cromley in Detroit, Mich.; Tullus Cromley in Holgate, and Arthur Cromley of here. The burial took place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the former residence to the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor P. A. Crow officiated and members of the National Union Lodge gave their deceased brother a funeral escort. The pallbearers were Andrew Wagner, John Backus, John Winch, Warren Dunn, Lemuel Davis and Joseph Hopper.

Peter John Weikinger
Peter John Weikinger, one of the leaders of the city fire department, died on Sunday evening shortly before six o'clock in the city hospital after he had been operated on that afternoon by Doctors Todd from Toledo, Reynolds and Ury from here for appendicitis. The young man, who had brought his lifetime to 30 years, 3 months and 6 days, had been sick for barely a week. He was born in Ft. Wayne as the son of the married couple Aloys and Karoline Weikinger and came with his parents as a small boy to Defiance, where he remained resident. He was unmarried; he had his home with his widowed mother at No. 211 West Water Street. With the mother surviving the deceased are brothers Edward and George and the sisters Mrs. Leo Vorndran and Miss Elisabeth Weikinger. The burial took place Wednesday morning in the Riverside Cemetery after a funeral service held by Father L. Plumann at 9 o'clock in the st. John's Catholic Church. The fire department accompanied the coffin to the grave.
