C. H. A. Groweg, who a few months ago had to be admitted to the state Hospital in Toledo for treatment of a nervous disorder, died there on Thursday night. He was born on the 8th of May 1863 in these parts as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Groweg, and had brought his age to 49 years, 10 months and 5 days. On the 22nd of February 1887 he married Miss Mary Beck, who preceded him in death on the 25th of August 1906. His four children are all alive; they are Ed. A. Groweg in Douglas, Arizona, Miss Maude E. Groweg in Defiance, Miss Hazel M. Groweg in Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs R. C. Gillette in Holgate. Also surviving are the aged parents, and the sister Mrs. Wesley King in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as the stepsister Mrs. Henry Smith, residing here. His brother Karl was taken to the grave in Salt Lake City only on the Sunday before.
The remains of C. H. A. Groweg were brought Thursday evening to Defiance to the residence of Henry Smith and buried Saturday afternoon in the Riverside Cemetery. Pastor F. A. Kiess officiated at half past 1 in the residence and at 2 o'clock in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, to which the deceased belonged.
Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Groweg, the youngest son of the married couple Adolph and Wilhelmine Groweg, died on Friday afternoon about half past 4 in Salt Lake city, Utah, after a one week illness from pneumonia at the age of 43 years, 1 month and 6 days. He was born in Defiance on the 31st of January 1870 and worked, when grown to manhood, for his father here, until he moved in March 1911 to Salt Lake City, to act as a business partner with his brother-in-law Wesley King. On the 16th of February 1899 he married Miss Bertha Funk. With the widow mourning his death are the aged parents and the sister Mrs. Wesley King in Salt Lake City, the brothers Edward and the step-sister Mrs. Henry Smith of here. The many friends of the deceased have all expressed their sincere commiseration. The burial took place Sunday afternoon in Salt Lake City under the auspices of the Free Masons.

Wilhelmine Groweg
Wilhelmine Groweg, wife of Mr Adolph Groweg, died on the Friday past in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the residence of her daughter Mrs. Wesley King after a lengthy illness. she had been sickly for a long time and had moved with her husband in the previous late autumn to Salt Lake City for her health, but without finding the desired improvement. Born in Germany on the 25th of October 1833, the now deceased came to this country and resided for half a century in Defiance. Here she married on the 25th of August 1862 Mr. Adolph Groweg, to whom she gave three children. Of these two, the sons Eduard and Earl, died in the last few months and the daughter Wilhelmine King, lives, as already mentioned, in Salt Lake City. Also (surviving) is the daughter Mrs. Henry Smith residing here, from a previous marriage with Mr. Wattenberg. Besides the descendancy includes four grandchildren. The remains of the elderly lady were laid in her last slumber in Salt Lake City Sunday, next to those of her son Earl.
