Mrs. Esther Louise Wisda, wife of Joseph Wisda, died on the past Friday evening about 10 o'clock in the family residence No. 422 Nicolas Street at the age of 59 years and 10 months less two days. She was born on the 20th of August, 1855 in the state of Pennsylvania and came young to this area, where after her marriage with Joseph Wisda she resided many years on a farm in Tiffin Township. Then two years ago Mr. Wisda rented out his farm and since then has resided with his wife here in Defiance. Of the fourteen children to whom the deceased gave life, four boys and 6 girls are still alive. Mrs. Anton Kern, resident here on North Clinton Street, is one of their daughters.
The burial took place Monday morning in the Riverside Cemetery, after Father James A. Lane had held the funeral service at 9 o'clock in the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Acting as pallbearers were Harry O. Wrede, A. J. Wolsiffer, Jacob Kruml, Peter Kern, Richard Wisda, John Fischer.

Mrs. Christine Schmucker
Mrs. Christine Schmucker, widow of the Tiberius Schmucker who died here about 26 years ago, and a longtime resident of our city, died on Monday morning in Owosso, Mich., in the residence of her daughter Mrs. Elisabeth Penketh at the age of 77 years and 14 days. She was a born Haring and hailed from Dettingen, Urach District, Württemberg. She came to this country many years ago and on the 15th of September 1857 married Tiberius Schmucker in St. Paul, Minn. As already mentioned, she had lived here for many years, where through her many good qualities of character she had made many friends.
The last few years she had spent her time alternately here and with her children in Ft. Wayne and Owosso. Besides the aforementioned daughter she leaves behind the following children: August Schmucker in London, England; Joseph Schmucker in Detroit, Mich.; George Schmucker in Binghampton, N.Y.; Mrs. Josephine Stoll in Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Christine Mummer in Huntertown, N.Y.; Mrs. Kathe Storms in Patterson, N.J. Besides these a large number of grandchildren are also left behind.
Her mortal remains were brought on Tuesday to Defiance to the residence of her granddaughter Mrs. Joseph Streit on Kintner Street. The funeral service will be Thursday morning at 9 o'clock in the St. John's Catholic Church.

Irma Anna Gearing
Irma Anna Gearing, daughter of the widow Annas. Gearing residing at No. 352 Danforth Street, died on Thursday morning in the residence of her mother. She was born on the 26th of September 1891 in Defiance, and thus had brought her lifetime to 23 years, 8 months and 21 days. Surviving her are the mother, the sister Mrs. Berthold Koch in Ann Arbor, Mich., and the three brothers Joseph, Arthur and Grover Gearing. Her mortal remains were taken Saturday afternoon from the family residence to the grave in the Brunersburg Cemetery. Pastor D. E. Miller officiated.

Mary Ann Flory
Mary Ann Flory, a born Schock and wife of Pastor John Flory, died on Thursday morning about half past eight in the family residence in North Richland at the age of 59 years and 6 days. Left behind are the widower and the fol1owing children: Mrs. Nora Berkebile in Fostoria, O., Samuel, Jennie, Bessie and Rollin Flory. The burial took place Sunday morning in the Dunkard graveyard, after Pastor G. W. Zellers had held a funeral service at 9 o'clock in the former residence and at 10 o'clock in the Dunkard Church. The pallbearers were Wm. Gilson, Charles Schock, George, Peter, J. W. and Samuel Hornisch.

J. George Streicher
J. George Streicher died on Monday morning at almost one o'clock in his residence in Holgate after an extremely painful illness at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 9 days. He was born on the 7th of November 1851 in the district of Urach, in the Kingdom of Württemberg and immigrated to this country as a 15 year old youth. After he had spent time in various cities in the East and the West, he settled in Defiance County. At first he resided on the South Ridge and later for many years here in the city of Defiance. He was twice married: his first wife Maria, born Steingass, died five years ago after a 35 year marriage. on the 19th of April 1911 he married Mrs. Margaretha Danz, born Ranz, and moved thereafter to Holgate, where he has been resident since. In the last eight months he has gone through without success an operation in a hospital in Toledo, the therapeutic baths in Hot springs and the radium cure in New York. Surviving him are the widow Margaretha and the step-sister Mrs. Johann Walter near Holgate. His remains were buried here in the Riverside Cemetery Wednesday afternoon, after Pastor H. C. Siegert had held a funeral service in the former residence. -- we sincerely do not begrudge our dear friend the release from his severe misery.
