Anna Schütz, a born Kühn and widow of Johann Schütz who died on the 3rd of January 1903, passed away in her sleep on Friday morning about half past 4 o'clock in her residence at 206 Main Street from a stroke attack, from which she had been stricken on the 25th of September. She was born on the 12th of September 1838 in Potalin, Prussia, came to this country in about the year 1866 and had resided here since the start of the seventies. Of the twelve children to whom she gave life, the four following are still alive: Michael Schütz, Miss Julia Schütz, Frank and Charles Schütz. The burial took place, since a funeral service in the Church was forbidden, on Monday morning under the direction of Father L. Plumann from the former residence in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johann C. Krutsch, John E. Nolan, J. F. Heimrich, Frank Kahl, John M. Forst and Joseph Eck.

Otto Schliesser
Otto Schliesser, whose passing from pneumonia on the Sunday evening before last at half past 10 o'clock in Camp Sherman was reported briefly in the previous edition, had reached an age of 24 years, 6 months and 3 days. He had arrived at the camp on the 22nd of July and almost at once had to undergo an operation, which kept him in the hospital for 5½ weeks, was then later accepted for overseas duty. His remains arrived in Okolona on the previous Wednesday and were taken to the residence of the brothers Wesche in Ridgeville corners. The burial took place Thursday afternoon under the direction of Pastor H. Schult from the house and the Bethlehem Church in the congregation's cemetery. Remaining behind are the father Georg Schliesser, the brothers Wilhelm and Albert in Adams Township and Georg in overseas duty, as well as the sisters Mrs. John Gerken in Adams Township and Mrs. Wm. F. Meyer in Toledo. Pallbearers were Henry Vorwerk, Adolph Rathge, Martin Wachtmann and Benjamin Lindau; flower bearers [were] Nettie Nagel, Anna Vorwerk, Lulu Fedderke and Helen Wiemken.
Those left behind would like to thank all their friends for their participation and the beautiful flowers, Pastor Schult for his consoling words and Mr. Albert Wesche for his capable direction of the preparation of the remains.

Henry J. Rothenburger
Henry J. Rothenburger, one of the oldest pioneers of this region, die on the Wednesday past shortly after noon in his residence in South Richland after an illness of several years. He was born on the 30th of January 1836 in the Kingdom of Württemberg and came with his parents as a nine year old boy to Medina County, Ohio. Shortly thereafter the family settled down in this area. On the 22nd of May 1858 he married Miss Julia A. Delong and settled in Richland Township, where with the exception of a ten year period which he spent in Henry County, he remained resident and practiced agriculture. On the 1st of January 1864 he enlisted with Co. G of the 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the war and served until his mustering out in Cleveland on the 15th of July 1865. In the last few years he had become yery frail and almost completely blind. Surviving him are the very aged and frail with age widow and, as far as we know, the following children: William H., Frederick E., Frank E., Henry M. and John J. Rothenburger, Mrs. Mary J. Yetter and Mrs. Amy B. Yetter.
His remains were taken Saturday afternoon under the direction of Pastor W. H. Shepser from the former residence to the Hire Cemetery for Christian burial. comrades from the Grand Army acted as pallbearers.

Jakob Engel
Jakob Engel, who has earned (the right) to be counted among the pioneers of the South Ridge, last Thursday afternoon about five o'clock in the residence of his son George J. Engel in south Richland went to meet his Maker. He was not ill for long; only in the week before did the serious heart disease come to light, which with the weakened by age condition of the man led in a few days to his passing away.
Jakob Engel was born on the 7th of May 1838 in Rengenberg, Prussia, and thus was 77 years and 13 days old. In the year 1863 he immigrated to this country and settled then on the South Ridge. There on the 17th of October 1865 he married Christine Grau, who bore him five children. Of these still alive are the sons August C. Engel in Defiance, Henry Engel in Holgate, Harry Engel near Florida and George J. Engel in South Richland. There are also eight grandchildren. The only daughter died many years ago and in the year 1903 his spouse (died) also. With the exception of about twelve years, which he spent in retirement in Holgate, Jakob Engel had practiced agriculture on the south Ridge the entire time since 1863.
His remains were buried Sunday afternoon from the former residence and the St. Stephan's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the old cemetery of the congregation. The pallbearers were Henry Greenler, Henry Tröger, Georg J. Goller, Georg Böhn, Adam Max and Christ. Memmer; the flower bearers Ferdinand Tröger, Adam Greenler and Ervin Ort.
