George John Schlosser, whose passing on the morning of the 2nd of October we had reported shortly in our previous edition, was born in Defiance on the 25th of June 1876 as son of the late Peter Schlosser and his spouse and had spent his entire lifetime in Defiance. He was active here in various occupations, the last few years in the facilities of the American Steel Package Co., where his organizational talent and his knowledge as mechanic (?machinist) and mathematician were used to the fullest. He served his fellow citizens for many years on the city council, and was the able, faithful to duty and untiring person in that body serving as chairman of the finance committee, as know best those people, like the writer of these lines, who regularly attended the city council meetings. On the 24th of December 1897, George John Schlosser married Miss Lydia Baumann, who with the son Harold and the daughter Mildred, survive. Also remaining behind are the brothers Fred, Frank, Peter, Harry and Earl Schlosser, the half-brother John Schlosser and the sisters Mrs. John Compo and Mrs. Kathe Maxwell.
The burial took place Friday afternoon from the former residence on East Hopkins Street under the direction of Pastor F. A. Kiess in the Riverside cemetery.
