Leo Joseph Seiler
Leo Joseph Seiler died Monday morning about a quarter past three o'clock in his residence in Defiance Township after a many month illness. The poor man went in recent weeks from unknown reasons into insanity and ?suffered so, that to him on Monday morning death came as a welcome release. The deceased was 50 years, 11 months and 17 days old and leaves behind a widow with 5 children. His remains were brought Wednesday morning from the St. Mary's Catholic Church to the grave in the Riverside Cemetery. Father Brannigan officiated.
In his insanity he hastened his death, in that, after he had chased the family out of the house, behind closed doors he thrust a stick in his throat and wounded himself so severely that he bled (out) internally. Sheriff Hull, his deputy Buchholz, Father Brannigan and Dr. Zeller were with the unfortunate, when his death arrived.
