Georg Christian Böhm, whose mortal remains were taken on Friday morning from the St. John s Evangelical Lutheran Church here to the grave in the Riverside cemetery, died as the result of an accident, which occurred on Tuesday of the preceding week during the construction of a new filtration plant in Richmond, Ohio. Mr. Böhm was working near a chimney, which a bricklayer was in the process of erecting, when he (the bricklayer) let fall a large piece of lumber. In falling, this struck an obstruction, ricocheted off and struck Mr. Böhm, working about 25 feet away from that place with such force on the back of the skull, that he collapsed unconscious. When he had come back to his senses, he was quickly taken by automobile to his residence in Painesville, where a doctor examined him. At first the wound was considered to be not serious, but complications occurred already by that evening, which led to his death on the next morning at twenty minutes before two o'clock.
The victim was born in Defiance County on the 20th of October 1874 as the son of the couple Johann and Elisabeth Böhm. The boy grew up and received in the parental home and the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church here a Christian upbringing. On the 16th of March 1908 he married Miss Reba Gebhardt from Defiance County and settled shortly thereafter in Elyria, O. A few years ago he moved to Painesville, Ohio, and in the vicinity of that city he was overtaken by death in the performance of his occupation.
He leaves behind a widow, the son Travella, his father and a sister Mrs. Ed. Wolfle living in Continental, Ohio; his mother preceded him in death about nine years ago. He had brought his age to 38 years, 10 months and 12 days.
Directly after the arrival of the accident report, the father traveled to Painesville and accompanied the remains to Defiance, where he arrived on Friday morning shortly after 9 o'clock on the Wabash Railroad. He was immediately taken to the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where Pastor F. A. Kiess conducted a funeral service. From there the burial took place in the Riverside cemetery.
