Olive GREEN Crum was born in New York state in 1818 and came to Ohio in 1833 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Greene. Her grandfather was a brother of Gen. Nathaniel Green, of Revolutionary War fame.
She was married in 1839 to Hamilton F. Crum, who died in 1888. Early in life she united with the Methodist church. She was the last member of a family of 10 children and was a mother of 10 children, only three of which are now living. She was a loyal member of the W. R. C. and for 19 years served as chaplain of the Addison Clarke Corps. She has been a resident of Liberty Center for 43 years and died October 18, 1909 aged 91 years, three months and 15 days.
Mrs. Crum was gentle, a long sufferer, patient, loving, willing to make sacrifices without complaint - and as we think of her we will ever cherish the rich heritage she has left us, for through life she has kept her eye on the Star of Bethlehem and the song of her life has been:
Shepard show me how to go O’er the hillside steep How to gather, how to sow, How to feed my sheep. I will listen for his voice Lest my footsteps stray; I will follow and rejoice All the rugged way.
